I wouldn't paint it, I just priced a rear bumper for my SXT today, the price was $250.00, they initially gave me a price for the SLT rear bumper which is painted and is made of a different material other than plastic. The price for the rear SLT bumper was $380.00 or something like that, but it comes primed for painting.
painted fender's and bumper's

thanks for the info ,i was wondering if they of a diff material or not

N/B is right... I wouldn't paint it either. It could be done but if you look close you'll see there is a grainy texture to the SXT trim which does not work well with smooth painting and you'd for sure have to us a flex agent additive in the paint. It makes more sense to throw on a cool set of custom wheels or paint some cool graphics on the body rather then to mess with the two-tone aspect. Go to www.kingofcars and look at some of their chopper edition SXT's (if they have any left). The SXT can be quite tricked out.
thanks

thanks for all the info , i did have someof the textured area's on my '03 ram sanded and painted , but i knew on the Nitro that the *plastic* was different
Gooday,
I drove my SXT straight to the paint shop, they are painting the bumpers, fender flares, side mouldings, roof rails, door handles, mirrors, rear plate bezel, door mouldings, as well as the chrome grille, black to match the black paint. The shop doing it has a lot of custom experience , they assure me the paint WILL adhere to the plastic and are willing to stand behind it(within reason). They removed all the texture w/ 400 grit sand paper, primed with high build PPG primer, with a flex agent and adhesion promoter for plastic, they wet sanded the primer with 800 grit, then applied 2 coats of black base, and three coats of clear w/ flex agent. It is being wet sanded and polished over the weekend ,I will post pictures early next week after final assembly...Cheers

That is exactly how it has to be done. You'd be surprised at how many places would try to tell you that you could just scuff, prime & paint it like a regular body panel. It's a whole lot of work but your outcome should be great. Can't wait to see pics of the conversion.

Those nitros look great with just a wheel swap out...22's are a beast on this truck!
painted frenders

this is what the body shop is thinking as well , i've dealt with them for 7 years now ,,, thanks for your feedback
Gooday, Just picked up my nitro from the body shop, havent figured out to post pics yt (if ANY ONE CAN GIVE ME SOME TIPS ON THAT...GREAT).Truck looks great the smoothing of the fenders and bumpers alone looks a1 . only issue i had right away was the shop did too good a job on laying down the ppg clearcoat.it makes the factory paint finish look like its textured. the manufacturers have to teach those robots to paint . The orange peel effect on the doors stands out big time now that the fenders are so smooth. The monochrome grille on the black paint looks mean....I know...Iknow...wheres the pics???...HELP

I use http://www.imageshack.us/ just browse to where your pictures are, select one pic, when you get back to the imageshack screen, click the resize option and select 800x600, then click on the "host it!" button. It will take awhile to host and resize so be patient, when you get to the hosted screen there will be several option of code to copy from, just pick the first line just below the small pic and copy that line into your post. When you submit your post it will show up as your pic. Repeat the above process to add multiple pics to your post. Hope that works for you!
