Do you guys know how i can program my locks to automatically unlock when i put the car in park?
Back seat riders have gotten incredibly annoyed with the locks.

Oh and I found a fix for door rattling. My doors were horrible even after the dealership put padding in the doors. I put foam weather stripping around the doors. Worked like a charm.

Thanks in advance for help!

Hey zmass, welcome to the forum.

As for your question, I don't think that option is available without the evic. The only option you have is to unlock the doors with either one or two presses of the button. I might be wrong but I've never seen it in the handbook. I'm sure someone will let you know if it is possible.

My SXT would keep the back doors locked when I stopped and parked when I first got it. The dealer can make it so all doors unlock when you park. It took all of 5 minutes.

I had an appointment to do the stalling recall and mentioned it to the service guy and he just went and did it. I'll bet if you stopped by the dealership and asked if there was any way to make all the doors unlock when you parked they would just go do it for you too. :wavey:

Thanks CL...we always thought it was weird to have the back doors stay locked by default......maybe they planned on selling a lot of Nitro's to police departments? or safety for kids? anyway we had to have them change ours as it drove everyone nuts.

Yep, we've found it to be a better solution as well. I'm just getting used to hitting the unlock button on the key twice to open all the doors from the outside. Wifey just stands there and glowers at me.........:shakehead:........till I remember to open her door too :chuckle:

You can change it to open all doors with one click. Just read your handbook, you don't need the evic to do this.

I don't see why this is such a big deal. In all older cars, if you locked the doors, you had to hit the unlock button manually. This is the way it is in my Surburban, my 9C1 and Saturn (the Vette is pre-electric locks).

Since I always locked the doors once underway, I have always hit the unlock button after parking. I nerver even thought about this in the Nitro until I read this thread.

BTW I don't have "park" in my Nitro, so I don't think there is any program change for me.

I am taking my Nitro in for an oil change this week and I mentioned this to the service manager because I would like my rear doors to unlock once in park as well. He told me that the problem is that I have my child safety locks on and I just need to turn them off. Is this right or is there more to the issue. TIA

6 speed, automatic door unlock

While at the Dealer today, I asked them if they could program the locks to unlock when I turned off the car. I have a 6 speed. They were able to program it so all the locks unlock when I open the drivers door after the car is off. YEA! I hate to have to go back and unlock the hatch when I have stuff back there to unload. I love it!!! The best part is it took less than 5min, and NO CHARGE!

My 2007 SLT Nitro was set up, from the factory, as Scar0's doors were programed by his dealer. Driver opens his door and all the doors unlock. Each of the other individual doors unlock when opened by the persons sitting at those doors. Only their door is unlocked. It does not unlock all the vehicles doors, as in the case with the drivers door.
