I bought a pair of ABS plastic chrome windshield washer sprayers with blue led lights that I want to install in place of the stock washers which are on the hood. I took a look at the underside of the hood and the insulation is held in place by what looks like plastic push pins (bad name for them but I don't know what you call them). My question is, do they pop out easily or do I run the risk of breaking them when I pull them out? Has anybody ever removed the insulation? How easy is it to take off and re-install using these "push pins"?

Another question. The instructions say to install one of the wires to the "anode" wire of the headlight. What the heck is the anode wire and how do I find it? Sorry for my ignorance, I'm just a desk jockey.

I don't know about the "push pins" question, but the "anode" most likely is the power source you need to run the LED lights. There are lots of ways to do this, not necessarily the headlights. Are you going to run it to a switch or do you want the LED lights to come on when the car is started?

hey Jersey, are they the same plastic plugs that connect the bumper to the finder? if so, I think they are easy to pop out, but 2 were missing on my bumper and the only way to replace them was to order a bag of 5, if you break yours and they are the same as what I have pm me and I will mail them to you!!

You have to be careful as they tend to break easily but as MG said they are real cheap down at the auto store.
I got the FREE ones from the service dept....lol, I talked real sweet and got a whole bag....well, I must not have talked too sweet, there is only 5 in a bag....lol

Thanks all for your responses.

Waldorf, I want to run the led's on them when the headlights are on, so I assume I'll hook them into that connection.

Meangirl. I don't know if they're the same that connect the bumper. I'll have to check this weekend. And I don't think me and sweet talking are in the same county when dealing with other guys, lol. I'll leave that to you and BlueJet.

CL, thanks for the advice on the pins and their fragility. I've had similar experiences in the past where my ham handed approach cracked plastic pins. Maybe I'll check out the local auto store.

Thanks for the heads up there Adot. I'll have to re-read the directions again.

I'll let you all know how it goes once I get them installed. Maybe this weekend if the weather's nice. Of course I'll post some pics as well.
I did happen to install two blue led light bars in the foot wells this weekend in place of the dome lights down there. It was a very easy install and they look great. I'll post pics at the same time I post the windshield sprayer\leds. Thanks again everyone.

It is Illegal to have a blue light on the vehicle, PERIOD.

If you don't use a switch, you will get a ticket in the communist state of New Jersey.

I lived there for over 35 years and got several tickets. Most of them, I was not even driving the car. I was in a parking lot at a car show and I left those lights on to attract attention to the car. It did, but not the attention that I wanted.

Hey Jersey ..I agree with fcsallan regarding the blue lights being illegal. But that law varies from state to state .I had a 49 Ford with a 50 merc grille and installed blue lights behind it. I got ticketed for those lights but the rear cat eye blue lights were ignored. Here in Florida the law reads differently. No Vehicle may be driven with a blue light visible from directly in front of that vehicle .Rear and underneath lights may be used assuming the bulb it's self is not visible. I read the law when I first arrived here in Florida because I had rear blue lights on my Baja bug. just my.02 worth.

WOW! I never knew that Fcsallan and Florida Roadie. What's the idea behind the law? These are tiny LED lights underneath the windshield washer sprayer. Are other colors banned as well? Just last night I was driving home from work and I saw a Honda which had one green light on their sprayer and a blue light on the other sprayer.

Thanks for the heads up though. Now I have to decide if I want to be a fugitive from the law. :(

but, can those washer LEDs be seen from the front of your truck by other vehicles directly in front? maybe the intent of the law is to prevent people from appearing like a po-po cruiser?

Yes, Waldorf, they can be seen from anyone in front or to the sides.

The law in New Jersey states that the only color lights permitted on the front of the vehicle is white or amber. To the rear can only be white red or amber.

We used to have many different lights, blue, green, purple.......

The only lights that we never got busted for was the purple. I guess it was just too dim.

In Jersey it is also illegal to use the undercarriage lights on the road. All of these lights are sold there but there is an "Offroad" stipulation.

In 2005 a law was passed that allowed the lights for "show" but not for use on the road.

Personally, I would still have them, I would just have a switch on it so you can shut it off. Since it is going to be on a Nitro that sticks out already, it is good to be able to shut it off.

I even got pulled over here in Florida for mine once, the officer let me off with a written warning as long as I went under the hood and disabled them before he would let me go.

just my $0.02
