Sorry, got tired of slogging through searched posts relating to this issue. I seem to recall a discussion about heated leather seats showing premature signs of creasing and cracking, but since I only owned my Nitro for a few days, I didn't pay much attention. After owning it for a couple of months now and using the heated seat function now that it's cold out, I notice these creases showing up. If the leather cracks, will it be covered under waranty? Other than this, the Nitro has been rock solid and a hoot to drive.

Should be... you could also try heating up the leather with a hairdryer and hand massages out the creases if its still fresh from the factory..

To keep the leather soft, you should use a leather moisturizer or conditioner. It will replenish the oils in the leather to keep it soft and prevent cracking. The creases do not mean it's going to crack.

The "bulge" in the middle of the seat is due to some minor stretching, and I don't think there's much you can do about that.

Wow! This is an obvious issue because our new SLT with only 150 miles on the clock is also doing the same thing on the drivers seat cushion/bottom. Ours actually started on the way home from purchasing the vehicle. When I looked at it and test drove it, the seats were perfect. I did notice that they seemed very taunt and not very forgiving for stretching. When I looked at the seat the next morning it looked like the lighter colored center leather insert had been wrinkled and it kinda felt like paper or something. The outer darker leather appears to be a better grade than the inner inserts. I wish that I could have gotten the YES cloth, but the SLT "G" pkg came with leather. I wonder if I could get the seats recovered by an upholstery shop to look like the R/T type material if the leather in fact does fail?

Not sure if it is covered or not. Will be taking the Nitro in for the roof rails to be replaced and I will ask then. When you push down on the seat, you will see the wrinkles better. Never seen anything like this before with other leather seats until much later in ownership.

I don't think this leather was taken from cows. maybe that's why it wrinkles so much! :chuckle:

This problem has to be poor quality control, as the leather seats in my 86 Chev Suburban look in better shape. Sometimes I think this whole vehicle was put together as an afterthought with all the problems that have surfaced:eek:
