I've now got an RES radio with satellite, and the dealer installed uconnect which works great with it (better than the factory uconnect in my charger). They put in the ipod cable but nothing seems to happen when I connect the ipod. I tried hitting aux, and everything else. The ipod sees power in, and sees itself as connected. Any ideas?

it seems like not a whole lot have people have this set up yet. its particularly the ipod rear interface that goes with the factory radio with dealer installed uconnect. the ipod cable actually connects to the uconnect module rather than the radio...

Are you using a generation 6 iPod??

Touch Classic and Nano....

The gen 6 iPods are not compatible with ANY iPod intergration that does not have an authentication chip from apple. Trust me my company just spent a huge amount of money to have our Porsche iPod adapter become compatible. We had to purchase the license and chip to make ours work.

I know other companies such as alpine have also had this problem. If mopar has not incorporated this chip it could be the same issue...

Just a thought

no, I have this setup :)

but it seems from reading around that some radios the ipod portion just doesn't work with. I guess I need to go back to the dealer
holy cow, no wonder the damn thing wont work....it's like an act of congress just to hit the on button....lol.

hope you get it resolved!

hmm no, a 60gb ipod video, early gen 5. I think it seems that some head units just dont allow the rear aux to work, and there is no rhyme or reason to it from what i have read. like any given RES unit may or may not work in this configuration. Ah well, it will be the dealership's problem, not mine :) as this was part of the car purchase contract ;)

Wee update. Dealer says mopar service told them i needed to update the ipod firmware, and I wasn't sure whether i had or hadn't, so I picked up the car (and ipod, i left it with them) and when I got home checked and it was the most recent. so I'll call em tomorrow and see :p

Ok, i've tried the interface with multiple ipods, same dealio, so the nitro is back at the dealer today. we'll see what he comes up with :) Worst comes to worst I may just pick up a 2009 REN radio with satellite out of a Journey and put that in place of this head unit. It should connect to the uconnect + ipod interface the same, and from what I read in the jeep forums its the head unit that is the issue here.

Dealer called, says they installed wrong version of uconnect module and ipod cable to go with the car, but they have to order the correct one. So we'll see :)

That was going to be my guess, there's 2 different uconnect modules, one
for the 07 and another one for the 08. The 07 is not compatible with the
ipod cable. I so want the to use the steering wheel controls for the ipod
and see the info on the radio.

Is your truck an 07 or 08? I want this for my Nitro but it I have an 07 so
I have the older uconnect module. I'm hoping I can switch to the 08 module
then add the 07 module in my Charger.

i've got an 07, but i'm not sure which part they put in. the uconnect itself worked well (better than my factory uconnect did in my charger). But my radio was also a replacement (my nitro was uber base) cause I wanted sirius as well. so the radio could be an 08 radio, which I think is the case. i'll let you know what happens, and when the dealer gets it working i'll ask for the specific part #s used :)
