I've been reading all these rave reviews on the 08 Jeep Liberty. After looking at it, isn't it a Nitro in Jeeps clothing ? It has the same looks, the same 3.7 motor and the 42RLE tranny. Why would the Liberty get such great reviews, when the Nitro's reviews are just so so ?

It's the brand name I think. And perhaps the addition of the low range gear box (which may not necessarily be a good thing because it adds weigh and the market Dodge is targetting is not heavy duty off-road).

I believe some one along the line said "IT'S A JEEP THING"........
same vehicle, just a different front end...we will see how this jeep is received by the public, because most jk liberty owners hate the thing...but if it does the job you ask it to:Racing: how in the heck cares...

I saw the advance Liberty brochure...

But I chose the Nitro for it's uniqueness instead. We had two Jeeps when we moved to NC. Her Grand Cherokee really was suffering so we put it out of it's misery buying the Nitro. There is a certain cache' in owning a Jeep but I don't believe this would be the one...who wants an also ran Nitro with a smaller engine. Hee Hee!
When buying I was really looking at the Jeep Unlimited Wrangler...however I was not impressed by the 3.7 underpowerhouse they had switched for my tough and reliable straight six. And then there was virtually no leg room in the second row. The Nitro won out hands down for roominess, power and downright good looks!
On an up note I do like the full sized sunroof option on the new Liberty...can I get one for my Nitro?:smileup:
