They don't have to pull the steering wheel--just the airbag, which takes like 30 seconds to get off, and 5s to put back on.
The hard part is disassembling the airbag to get to the back side of the cover--I've not tried that yet so don't know, but did read through the instructions that were posted and it doesn't look too bad.
looked it up in the workshop manual, i see now how the airbag comes away from the steering wheel, pretty easy, at least i can remove the badge myself and maybe replace it with a silicone one,

I'm going to ask if its just a removal, if it is I'll ask for the old badge then make a cast for a silicone replacement. Great idea Nitrogen thanks.

Hello all,
I live in Somerset UK and received a letter to say there needs to be a recall for my dodge nitro 2008 to check the airbag safety. However, it says the nearest place is Essex? There's anybody else know if anywhere closer to me!?
I'm in the US & I saw a recall notice. The emblem on my steering wheel was missing when I bought my 2007 Nitro. I discovered that the Emblem on the Case the Owner's Manual comes in is the exact same size & fits right in the emblem slot perfectly. A little super glue (making sure none gets in the holes, which would get on airbag fabric you can see which could possibly cause a deployment failure).

Recall repair was done by Jeep at the beginning of February. They took old airbag out (maybe one of the dodgy ones) and replaced it with a new one. They reinforced the retaining clips on badge logo somehow it seems... They were a bit vague about it, but it's registered as safe on their database so all good.
