Have you locked your keys in the car?
Does your vehicle have remote keyless entry?

This may come in handy someday.

Good reason to own a cell phone: If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone at home on their cell phone from your
cell phone. Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on their end.

Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you.

Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other "remote" for your car, you can unlock the doors.

It works fine! I tried it out and it unlocked over the cell phone!"

yeah I read a similar artical that stated the same thing ....but I tried it with my Verizon service and it works. Having a degree in electronics my self I had questions to the possibility of it working. It really boils down to the frequency of the transmitted signal and the bandwith transmitted by the phone carrier. I am going to try it from one state to another to further test but it worked for me over a mile away

I'll have to give it a shot with my Blackberry Pearl on TMobile.

really it depends on the phone most cellular phones have a wider bandwidth than corded or cordless phones. In fact the whole deal depends upon both the phones ability to hear and the others to recreate the frequency at the other end. This is the same principal as a (repeater) in the wireless world.

So does this only work cell to cell? It didn't work when I tried from a land line to a cell phone.
