Im wondering about getting regular cloth seats vs my leather seats... If I do get cloth seats I heard it isnt bad about having cloth heated. The 07-08 Dodge Avenger has heated cloth seats right? What I read..

Is it possible to remove the heat element from my leathers seats and insert them into the cloth seats?

I would think it would be better to buy new seat heaters and install them rather than taking old ones out of the leather seats. From what I've heard the old ones are pretty well adhered to the seat foam, and if they quit working, new heaters are simply installed over the old ones.

I have a related question...If you don't have the heated seats now but you wanted to retrofit them, could that be done fairly easily or is it way too involved? Of course I'm assuming that I'd also have to get new seat covers to boot, right?

not necessarily. The front of the seats are clipped on to the seat frame and you can probably get room to slide in the heating element between the layers then reclip the front edge of the seat material. Running the wiring is another story. You would have to run the wires into the center console and to the dash and then figure out how to wire it up to a switch.

I just googled "seat heaters" and found several sources for aftermarket seat heaters. Imagine that. I remember there being several threads on seat heater and seat covering installation when I was over on a Jeep forum. The kits look pretty stock when you are finished.

I've never looked at the elements on the oe seats but I expect they are glued to the leather themselves because every seat (from all makes/models) I've messed with have been glued.

I use the fiber kits from Rostra. I actually order the Toyota kit because for some reason it's a little cheaper in costs and it gives you more material to work with. Yes, the seat covers and just clipped into place. I can install the seat heaters with out removing the seats. It's a little labor intensive but not overly hard to do.

To resurrect an old thread, my wife had a 2001 Alero that I had a heated drivers seat installed by a local auto upolstery shop. It had a seat and back element and a high/low/off switch, as I recall it was $200 back then.

I want to have heated seats installed on my 2008 SXT, and I see in the owners manual there are spaces alocated for the switches on the dash panel. Of course, on my panel these spaces have a blank on them; is it possible to get Mopar switches to put in these blanks and have the shop wire them just like factory? Heated seats are nice in my part of the country. Thanks, Douglas
