Salt & skidding into curbs are bad for wheels. Seems like it would be tough to keep the salt off them on the east coast. They don't use salt on the roads here so it's no big deal.
You know, salt is not good for anything on a vehicle. It does add some taste to foods though. Even then it causes problems such as high blood pressure. So I guess the bottom line is that salt is not good for anything.

Keep the wheels clean by washing the salt off frequently, don't let the salt sit overnight. Add protection by waxing the wheels periodically. I have chrome wheels, and the salt has done nothing (so far). But salt is not good, and you don't want to drive in the snow too much where they apply salt to the roads. I don't drive my Nitro when it snows, I only got caught in the snow once. Wheels still looking good!:D
where do you get the wax or can you go to a car wash and get it done?? what is the name brand you use?? and how many times do you do it a month???

Easier said than done with a daily driven vehicle and non-stop 0 degree temperatures. :) I know my wheels will look like crap in a year or so, even with washing the salt off as often as possible...

That would be tough around here if they used the salt. Temps will drop well under freezing for days or weeks on end. Makes it tough to wash the car at all.

I get it fom Wal-Mart, Mothers, Meguires Turtle Wax, RainX (spray wax) , are all good for wheels. If they are chrome wheels, you will be wanting to use microfiber cloth hand towels as well when you apply the wax (liquid wax of course), and wipe off. I clean my Nitro and wheels often! Which means, every single time I get caught in rain or snow.

Don't know what type of wheels you have bch, but I can you're upstate NY. I also don't know if you guys up in Rochester have any indoor hand car washes up there, but that's all I use in the winter, and that's all we city boyz mostly use. In the summer, I do it myself.

Since they don't salt the roads where you drive, I guess you have nothing to worry about AJ... :)
Only way to treat nice wheels in the snowbelt is to take them off and use the factory wheels in the winter
I'm buying a set of used Murano rims, 5 spoke design, painted aluminum, and putting my old Murano's winter tires on them. They are 18", but outside diameter of the tire is the same, the offset and bolt pattern are the same. 4 used Murano rims can be had for about $350.
