Ok, I have had several requests for more Pics of the rack I made and how it connects to the roof.
So here are some of the details.
First I removed the cap nuts that hold the Factory rails down. Then I made 1” spacers from ¾” Aluminum bar,
Tapped them through with a 6mm tap.

Then I attached the spacers to the bolts that hold down the factory rails.

(Note, on the front rail bolts, I had to add a washer to hold down the factory rail.)
Next, I made flat bars to attach to the spacers.

I attached the flat bars to the spacers, and then attached the Rack brackets to the flat bars using
rubber gaskets made from an old inner tube.

The front rack brackets are connected directly to the spacers, with a piece of foam to cover the
hole left by removing the plastic bolt cover.

I also put in a top view for the overall design.
The front bar center bar and back bar are parallel for carrying long flat items on top.

and detail of the antenna placement.

All the hardware is Stainless, but you can't tell because it is rusting.

Thank you all for the compliments.
One of my hobbies is wood working. (If you look in the background of the 6th photo you will see a Tear Drop trailer I am making.) I can get a 2x4 inside, but a sheet of plywood will not fit. With the rack I can put it all on top. I hate to have to hook up my other trailer just to pick up 1 piece of plywood.

About 2 weeks, working off and on. With design changes, fittings, painting, and weather. I can fit the Nitro in the garage. I just can't walk around it when it is there. Too many other projects in there.

I would love to see some pics of that tear drop trailer. I love them 1950's original trailers. So much about the open road and the post world war II era. Hows it coming along? I am thinking buying one for my bluegrass festival camping vacations.

The trailer is not coming along too fast. lol
I have been modding the Nitro too much. I need to get back on it.
The basic design is based on the article in Popular Mechanics April 1953.
Called " Build "Wild Goose" A Sturdy Overnight Trailer", by Vic Goortzen.
But of course I had to put my own spin on it. I have split it in half length wise and the top half will pop-up. That way we can stand at full height inside. I have built it from the ground up. I started with an axle and welded the frame and off I went. lol But, that is another thread, someday.
