Yank the shield off, then get a junk yard drive shaft. The shaft is not hard to DIY swap out.
You can also call dodge corp and explain your situation. They may (with a little pushing) make it right.

Yeah I actually bought one for like maybe $250-$300 and pulled the old one off using a shop lift and actually put the the replacement one on while lying down in a parking lot with no lift at all. And I did it by myself in a fairly short amount of time given the task. And I think they wanted to charge me about $1,000 or so at the dealership.
FYI I'm 5'3" and weighed about 125 Lbs at the time.
