So driving one day I noticed a scraping, metal on metal noise, and it seemed to be coming from the rear driver side, could hear it when driving normally and a little more so when braking.

After reading some posts here and other places I went in and just installed a new rotor and pads altogether
Taking off the rotor was a serious pain, the ring that sits inside the shoe of the rotor for the e brake had seized/bonded/gotten stuck to the rotor and seemed to sit a little weird once I finally got it off.

I didn't visually see any point where metal was bent or grinding when putting it all back together anywhere else

Not sure if its something different or if its the Ebrake, and if it is what I should do next?

Check out the How-to section of the forum. There are a couple of great threads on the brakes in there.
