The FedEx driver that dropped off a package at my house hit my BlueBoy!!! I wouldn't have known but a nice man and his son saw it and rang my doorbell. The son is the one that memorized the plate number. I just got off the phone with FedEx and they are sending out the area manager to "see what they can do about it." See what they can do about it?!?!!? Ummmm how about paying for a new bumper!! Gee what a novel thought eh?! Dang it! [email protected]&#* I am so darned made at the driver - ya know accidents happen, fess up, fix it move on. But to drive away without letting someone know is so wrong! The man said she had to have known because both vehicle rocked a lot. The area manager better not give me attitude - cuz like Meangirl said - you do not mess with a pissed off woman!!!

I don't know about CA law, but in PA, you'd be hard pressed to get Hit and Run through if it happened in your driveway - it becomes a civil matter, and not criminal in that case. If it's on the roadway, it is absolutely hit and run in the criminal sense. (check CA laws to be sure)

I'd let the manager know about that, if he's anything shy of completely cooperative with your wishes! That should convince him - also, get a written statement from your witnesses - people tend to forget exactly what they saw if they don't do that. If it happened on the road, your insurance company will probably want a police report too.

Sometimes I just hate people!

I would contact your home owners ins. company also. It's nice to have them on your side in any case. Make sure you call your car ins. company (if different).

Also, tell the Fex EX guy that you contacted your insurance company and their "lawyers" are suppose to be returing a phone call to you.

Thanks everyone for the support!

FedEx guys came out and took a report and photos. I think they scared me more than the dork that hit my car.... example.... I said "I don't understand why she needed to back up at all." (She was parked in front of my Nitro with open curb in front of her all the way.) The one guy's response was "Well all of our drivers are very law abiding and she would not have wanted to be in the red zone." Ok there is red curb at the end of my parking area but when did the law change and state that you are not allowed to drive past a red curb when pulling away from the curb?! Geez if I had a nickel for every dork I have dealt with lately......

I told the guys who came out from FedEx that I would be taking it to the dealer to have it taken care of - just to let them know right up front we won't be playing that game.

Called my ins. company and they are on it. We have a great ins. company thank goodness!!

I talked to LAPD and they were pretty blah about it. :? They officer said that if damage is over $500 and/or someone is hurt then they will do a report. And that it isn't really hit and run if you get info on the person that hit the vehicle. All this kind of pissed me off so I asked "so if we have enough info on the person that did the hit and run you don't do anything and if we have no info you try to find the person - which doesn't usually happen - so either way you don't do anything and the person doesn't get in trouble for it?" He started to respond with "Well mam...." Where's my nickel?

No photos from me yet. It doesn't really look that bad but you know when you bend plastic it turns white? Well it is like that and it is bubbled up in places. My worry is that the integrity of the bumper has been compromised.

So now it is just a waiting game.

(again - PA law, not necessarily true in CA)

You can typically file a personal criminal complaint against someone for something of this nature with your local Magistrate, or the DA's Office. In LA I doubt either would be really helpful, though. It depends how hardcore you want to get about it.

I live in small-town Pennsylvania, where something like that is an average crime, and the police will take the 15 minutes needed to at least make you FEEL like they care about your problem. I would imagine in LA the cops just roll their eyes for stuff like that. I am sorry you have to go through this, but it sounds like your ins. company is a least earning their money. I would be curious to know the outcome.

Just a quick update..... FedEx sucks!! Or at least the office in my area. I have left several messages with no return call. Went to the dealer today and got my estimate - $350 but open due to might need more work/parts then they can tell right now. Called FE when I got home and finally got the woman I spoke to before and she said "you need to call Risk management" - ummm hello?!!? How exactly was I supposed to know that?!?! Finally got the right risk management department and they have no knowledge of my claim - which means the knuckle heads here did nothing about my report! Grrrrr! :shakehead:

She said that I would hear from someone in 3-5 business days - well I will be calling back on Friday!

Good thing is that the dealer will be installing the bumper with the fog light cut outs so when we put in the lights we won't have to modify the bumper!

So sorry to hear about your bad luck. I agree that it is time to do the attorney thing. If a woman can get millions from McDonalds for dumping coffee on her crotch you should have a good chance of at least scaring them into a little cash. Don't forget to use the PR thing such as posting the "hit and run" on the web. Just a crazy vet's opinion.
