I have a slow leak in one of my front tires. I have the TPS feature. This is the first time I have had a car with this feature and was wondering if there is anything special about repairing the leak?

I am sure this may have been addressed before on this forum, but when I searched, I go a lot of hits for TPS but nothing about changing or repairing a flat.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!!!

I don't see any issues with a tire repair. That's what the TPMS is suppose to do. The only thing I could say is don't try using any type of fix a flat. Have it patched.

That was what I thought also but wanted to see if there was any kind of issues with the tire place taking the tire off the rim and reinstalling it. I am sure they have dealt with the pressure systems before so I may just be concerned for nothing...

Thanks for the reply!

I know someone that constantly had a front flat. He had it checked over and over for about 3 months. Finally, a young, fresh out of tech. school, kid told him that his rim is slightly bent and won't seal. You may check to see if your rim maybe bent too.

I had a nail in one of my tires and got it plugged. It took 10-15 minutes for the TPS to figure out the pressure was changed, but my friend who fixed it for me told me that would happen. After it adjusted, no worries!

Most tire shops know how to deal with them now. Although I would imagine some corner garages may be clueless.

It is fine to plug or patch the leak, DO NOT USE FIX A FLAT, also it is very common for the valve stem seal to leak when a TPM is attached, they simply loosen they can just be retightened (I am refering to where the valve stem attaches to the wheel, not the internal seal of the valve) or as in my case they had to put silicon around the valve stem before retightening it. Very simple repair

I took it to the tire shop and they found a screw in the tire. They took the tire off, patched it and put it back on. All is well now!

Thanks to all for their input..... :wavey:
