    Hello fellow Nitrowners,

It seems like im still learning here and there about the Nitro. So far the noise has been resolved but now I have another question about something I'm not sure is normal.

Whenever I drive the Nitro and take it to get washed (or during heavy rain) it seems as if there is smoke coming from behind the grill of the Nitro. Almost as if the Nitro is breathing like a bull. Now I'm thinking it might be steam and the water is just hitting the engine, but is that normal given the style of the stock grill? I had an SRT-4 before the Nitro so to me anything resembling smoke/steam coming from the front of the vehicle raises an eyebrow.

If it is just water getting in there, is this normal or should I look into a different grill to help avoid this? Thanks in advance for any/all the help.

Happens all the time. You aren't the first to post about it. All is fine with your Nitro don't worry about it.

Second the above message. The water gets throigh to the hot rad and turns to vapour that is what you are seeing. You have nothing to worry about.

I will make it 3 times is a charm!
No worries unless your coolant level is declining.
BTW If I fill mine up it does go away, up until a point then it equalizes itself.

I figured as much. Thank you everyone for the heads up. I do want to change the grill someday. At least now the change will be a want and not need. Then again, I DO need to make sure that the Nitro is always looking his best :)

Does it on mine every time I go through the carwash or a bit after heavy rain.

I came here with this very question and can rest satisfied. I've noticed a bit of steam since the weather has been colder but have been unable to point to where or why. Question answered.

    I love this place.

I was going to post a question regarding this same problem, I wasn't overheating so I chalked it up to steam.

It even states in the Owners Manual that steam may be seen coming from the engine bay.
