I thought about taking pictures during the install and cutting of the box but i was too busy throwing around four letter words! lol
Anyways
I bought a off the shelf walmart 12" sub box. Cut it, straightened the back, and cut around the passenger side wheel well. The wheel well was the most time consuming thing i have done in my life.

But it now fits to the side and doesnt block my floor lift out tray. It also doesnt block the space to fold down the slim back seat and the front passenger seat so i can still slide some 2X4's back there if i need to!:Na_Na_Na_Na:

I sealed the box around the wheel well with fiberglass. Now i need to hire someone to stay in the trunk and find the rattles and seal them!

The Amp is under the floor which i think is where everyone elses is. I didnt wire it myself..... Electricity and me.... equals:tnp:

But i am proud!

Ill post pix first chance i get.
But i leave before sun up and get home at night to.
so as sooooon as i can!

Pix

Still plenty of room for long items

Formed around the wheel well, got a little messy with the fiber glass.
The seats also still fully recline

Tray opens to reveal the amp.
If it does happen to get to hot under the floor, Which hasnt been a problem so far with highs around 80, i can flip over the tray and it has twice the breathing room.

looks pretty good. you plannin on securing it to the back with something other than a bungee cord? a nice touch would be to either carpet the back to match the box or the box to match the back.
Well what i was thinking about was screwing a 2X6 to the bottom of the box so it can slide into the hole in the floor right there. Wouldnt have to drill into the plastic or anything and it would be hidden but i have bigger fish to fry...

Problem

My Nitro is making "Farting" noises or so it was described to me from someone behind the car. :shy:

I got out with the woofer on and sure enough under the drivers side fender flare and behind the passenger side tail light their was a LOUD popping noise.
I think i have heard it inside the car before but i just couldnt pin point it.
Also i noticed their is a loud rattling right behind the Dodge emblem on the hatch. I am thinking it is the locking motor or a wire vibrating.
SO!
Tomorrow I am taking out my tail lights and figuring out what is behind them that could possibly be making that noise. But i did notice it made the same pop noise when i shut the trunk, Maybe it has somthing to do with air flow?

TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK!

Welcome to the world of SPL's.

If you have a decent sub and your box don't rattle, your not pushing it hard enough!

If you want to remove all of the shake rattle and roll of our junkboxes (Nitro) than spend a couple of hundred on some Dynamat or Fatmat and pull the interior out of the car and deaden it all. I would give yourself about 2 days to get the job done but the sound differences are huge when it is done.

yea i threw a thick layer of dynamat on the enter back door of the nitro and it stop the rattling. the only thing i get is my back windshield wiper banging the window but i cant do much because 2 l7's and 2 amps will rattle something no matter what

I want to put some dynamat or cotton or foam or somthing INSIDE the trunk door. That would solve the wires or motor rattle, whichever it is.

Problem FOUND!

SO!
I popped out my passenger side tail light and what do i find?
2 odd looking rubber flaps.
....
?
Does ANYONE know what this could POSSIBLY be used for?
If i cant find a reason for these....seals... im going to silicone them shut and cut a slot in them so they can still breath and do what they need to do, whatever it is,but not make noise.
I havent taken out the driver side tail light yet. Hopefully this is the same situation on this side.
Ill post pics ASAP

they let moisture out of the car so your windows don't fog and they allow the air that is being pumped into the front of the car by the A/C and heater to exit instead of building pressure in the vehicle as well as alleviating the pressure when you close the doors so that your doors close without excessive force.

sounds like enough of a reason to leave them to me.

I can't believe that you would be able to hear any noise from them while the stereo is on unless you are outside of the vehicle anyway. Who cares what other people hear?

My windows already fog up, Its TEXAS we want the cold air to STAY IN!
No wonder all of our Chryslers have to have the A/C full blast to stay cool while foreigns barely need to be on. And people have problems with slamming the back doors because they close to easily anyway. Im going to keep them im just not going to let them flap. Ill slit them BARELY so they can breath just not flap.

another option that I have used in a situation where the could be heard, was to take some fiberglass insulation and place some of it loosely in the opening, it will hold it open so that you get the air through and keep it from making noise.
