Can anybody tell me what the differences are between the Nitro and the Jeep Liberty?

Is it the same engine (3.7)

Is the Cargo Space the same?

Is the Length/Width the same?

I heard that the 08 gets a little better Gas Mileage than the 07, is that true?
Does anyone know what approx gas mileage the Manual Trans gets?
Is it the same with the 4X4?

Can you get the 4X4 with the Manual Trans?

Is the Rear Seat one Piece or 2 Pieces?. Can it be removed fairly easily?

Is there an "Overdrive" in the Manual Trans.? How do you engage it?

I am definately going to buy one of these vehicles, just dont know which one yet.. Any help will be appreciated..

other can correct me if I'm wrong (please do!) but I believe it is the same 3.7 engine in both vehicles. The Nitro is built upon the same chassis as the Liberty, although you can check the specs online, but I believe the Nitro is a few inches longer overall. There are other threads here about gas milage, use the search, you will find them. You can get the manual trans with 4x4 on the SXT model, but not the SLT or the R/T. Again, there are threads here about that too! The rear seat of the Nitro is a split fold-down model that is not removable. The seat backs fold down to make the floor flat and inline with the rear floor. The 08 Liberty is basically a Nitro with different styling on the front and back, from what I've seen. Please use the search to find the threads on the differences. believe me, there is a lot here to read about this topic.

BUY A NITRO!!!

Hi Jake, welcome to the forum!:wavey:

I have some info on the 2007's.

Nitro fuel tank - 19.5 gals., Liberty - 20.5

Interior volume front/mid/rear/cargo cubic feet.
Nitro - 55/NA/48/65. Liberty 54/NA/49/69

Turning circle, feet.
Nitro - 36.3, Liberty 35.9

Length/width/height in inches.
Nitro - 178.9/73.1/69.9, Liberty - 174.4/71.6/70.2-71.9

Curb weight in pounds.
Nitro - 4,000-4200, Liberty - 3900-4100

The 2008 Liberty will be more like the Nitro and it will be bigger than the '07's.

The 6speed stick is the same for both the Liberty and the Nitro. I have the stick in my Nitro and it is a nice shifting German unit. 6th gear is basically an overdrive gear, so not need to engage anything.
