i have been looking all over for what is avalible for the nitro to make them handle better. so far all i found is some bilstein shocks and struts, a couple different brands of lowering springs, and bwoody sway bar end links. i'm looking for some poly bushing and bigger sway bars. so far i haven't been able to locate any unless anyone knows where we can get some. i have put in some emails with energy suspension and prothane to see if they can start making some but i haven't heard back anything yet. i'm also going to see if i can get someone to make some upgraded sway bars as well. if anyone has any info on this or has already been working on this please share some info.

Since the Nitro and the Jeep Liberty share many components, maybe some of the Liberty stuff will fit the Nitro. When I had my 2003 Liberty Renegade, there wasn't much offered for it back then. Times have changed, so maybe there are more options today.

just got back an email from energy suspension and they said they don't have anything for the nitro yet. they didn't say anymore than that. i'm still waiting to hear back from prothane. i hope i can get some poly bushings in the near future. i'm also still waiting to hear back from a few people i contacted about upgraded sway bars. you would think with the amount of people doing mods to the nitro's and liberties that there would be more performance parts avalible.:(

Is the sway bar on a R/T the same size or is it bigger? I thought I read somewhere that it was made heavier in 2008 model year. Also do you have the 20 " wheels as they may help out the handling issue as well?

I just put Energy Suspension polyurethane bushings on my rear sway bar. These.
I had to expand the bracket holes just a little with a round file for the studs to fit, but otherwise no issues.

The Energy Suspension polyurethane front 32mm offering (this) comes with a bracket that cannot be made to fit--the holes are also slightly too small, but the bracket is too short--if I were to open them up enough there wouldn't be enough bracket left to feel safe IMO.

However, for polyurethane bushings on the front, Siberian Bushing 30-01-4028 should fit and use the stock bracket--I ordered a set and will see.

As for sway bar sizes, there are two each front and rear:
SDD - Performance Suspension:
  • front 33mm - swaybar: 68070134AA bushing: 52125324AC
  • rear 22mm - swaybar: 68070271AA bushing: 52125391AC

SDE - Sport Suspension:
  • front 32mm - swaybar: 68070133AA bushing: 52125323AC
  • rear 21mm - swaybar: 68070122AA bushing: 52125209AA
You can get your build sheet from mopar.com, or get all your build codes from any dealer if you just provide your vin to find out whether you have SDD or SDE.

Looks like Siberian Bushing has offerings in both sizes for both front and rear, and reuse the stock bracket. Wish I had found them first.

any idea what this fits?

You can email them and ask for the mm dimension--they'll respond.
For my 2007 SXT they list only two rear options:
35-01-3984 mopar 52125391AC - which is the 22mm mopar part
35-01-3985 mopar 68044690AA - doesn't make sense, since other cross referenced parts suggest the mopar part is 32mm

I emailed Siberian Bushing and asked for specific ID measurements on the parts they listed that didn't say. Their response was they only had what the manufacturer gave them--thus they aren't even the manufacturer! So now I wonder who is really making these.

I finally got around to installing these in the front. Perfect fit.
I had to loosen the lower end link bolt then completely remove the bar from each endlink one side at a time to be able to pull the bracket off the studs then pry the bracket off the old bushing. Also had to lube inside the bracket to get it to go on over the new bushing. Pretty simple job, but did take a little effort.

Lower endlink bolt: 85 ft-lbs
Bracket bolts: 110 ft-lbs
