Hey Guys,
quick question i have a sxt with the stock radio still and when i push the uconnect button it says UCONNECT UNAVAILABLE from what i have seen i believe you need the automatic dimming rearview mirror in-order to make it work.. i was wondering if there is a way to make it work without it or maybe by the mirror or is it not even worth it..... Thanks

I have a SLT and my UConnect says the same thing. However, I also have the dimming mirror, so I don't think that has anything to do with it (unless it's the next step above my mirror). But I was also wondering the same thing. If I could plug something into the back of the radio and mount a mic for it somewhere, it would be pretty cool addition. Don't know how expensive though.

If you look in your owners manual you'll notice the mirror also has a mic for the UConnect, Without that option you can't use it because there is no way for the system to detect your voice.

U-Connect Programing

Not only do you have to have the dimming rear view mirror with mic, you have to have the available programing and be able to program the U-Connect to recognize your voice and cell phone. It should all be in your owners manual.

The factory UConnect system includes the Upgraded mirror w/ mic..You can get UConnected as a dealer-added option however it is not the same as factory install..There are already detailed threads on here about that as well as the possibility of doing a factory UConnct install..
