Well my new Nitro is less than 24 Hours old, and it needs a new right rear fender.:i_rolleyes:
Seems my wife hit the neighbor's car backing out of the driveway! There was only paint scratches to their car, but the Nitro's plastic fender took a wicked hit. Might be fixable, but not by me. At least no one got hurt.

If you don't mind, please let us know how much the repair costs. One of my clients, who is an auto body shop, seemed to think these flares and fenders will be expensive to replace.

The fender is actually quite easy to remove, but you must be careful not to scratch the body paint. Unfortunately the plastic rivets on the underside (in the fenderwell) had to be sacrificed (Half of them were broken any way), but the clips holding the fender to the body itself (when removed WITH care) are reusable. I'm going to take the piece into work tomorrow, and see if one of our painters can salvage it.
If not, the part has a specific # for the painted unit, so it should be relitively easy to order one ready for installation......but at what cost?
I'll post an update later.

Don't worry Blue she'll be good as new after a trip to the body shop. I had only had mine for like 3 months and have less than 5k on it when she had to make her first trip (oh and ONLY trip).

The driver's door got away from me while opening it in a windstorm and whipped forward. They had to totally repair the a-post, order new springs and one new hinge. Not to mention repaint all of those items. I felt pretty bad, and I now keep the old spring in the glove box as a reminder (yes DK the spring is ORANGE).

Worse yet, quite a few years back I had a brand spankin new car I drove off the lot and onto the highway. While I was on the cars virgin drive, a car in front of me swerved around a steel garbage can. I wasn't quick enough and hit the thing full force. That wasn't even ONE day and I was at a body shop.

Everybody else is right....no humans hurt, and the frame's still straight....she'll have many many more happy miles for you.

Not to get OT from this thread, but as some of you may know, I have to get my front bumper replaced because of the dog incident. I got a call from the shop today and it will cost $850 to replace. They said I will have it back within 1 week.

CK, (love the memory they make!:D) the front bumper from the dealer is only $250.00 (SXT) and around $380.00 (SLT). Paint should only cost $250.00-$300.00 bucks.
wow thats strange. i doubt that labor is $500! lol. They just called and said the total price. I was just assuming that they would replace the bumper. Maybe there was something else that needs replacing that I dont know about?

hey BlueNitro i have a question

did you purchase the plastic rivets from the dealership? if so what was the cost of them and how do you install the rivets into the panel?

i would appreciate any info you can supply me with

thanks
bob
I haven't got the fender back yet, but I had a look at it before I left work, Beautiful, you can't tell it was schmucked up.
As for the rivets, I haven't priced them out yet, but I've ordered some custom mud flaps that come with a mounting kit, so I hope the rivets are included.

If you have a std poprivet gun (ie Marson HP-25) they are really cheap to buy, they come with various diameter grip cones, select the proper cone to accomodate the pull shaft, insert the shaft into the gun, poke the "blind" end of the rivet through the alighned holes of the panels you wish to fasten together, and repeatedly squeeze the handle until the rivet breaks (or "pops") off.
Your done!

Well, she's all better now.:ura1:
Total cost was $60.00 supplies + 1 case of beer (brand TBA)
Used PPG Base/Clear, excellent Colour match.
Found some plastic rivets lying around the shop so no cost there.
I think I (or should I say my wife ;) ) got off pretty lucky on that one.
