Been thinking about going to dual exhaust pipes and extending them straight thru the bumper. To accomplish this mod, I'd need to drill 2 holes in the bumper panel and insert a chome bezel to add a custom touch. Has anyone attempted this or am I headed for a costly bumper replacement? Anyone have any thoughts on this project??

Where on the bumper?

I am trying to picture it my first thought is that it would look a little strange being higher than the bottom of the bumper , maybe do a photo shop of your idea? :thk:OK HV has the Ideas, thats better yes ( see next post)

I got no farther than you have in that I have thought about it. But I can't say that I have even looked up under that part of the rear bumper. I did feel up under there. There is quite a lot of "milk crate" cross-bracing in the plastic. They way my mind works is that I think about something and while asleep the way to do it usually comes to me. So what my mind told me to do was get some PVC pipe of the size I wanted to make the hole in my bumper. strap it down to something at the height I wanted to make the hole, then cut the end of the pipe until it was the shape of the curvature of the rear bumper at that point. Then all you have to do is outline the pipe shape on the bumper at the two locations you want to make the holes and cut them out.

I was thinking of only going up half way of the tips, or cutting out a half moon shape in the lower bumper area in two locations. Then you could use some chrome push on door edge trim around the cut to dress it up. The original concept Nitro had recessed tips like this.

After feeling all the plastic bracing under there, I kind of decided to leave well enough alone. But if you can make this work, kudos to you and I would like to see result.

Sorry I'm photo shop challenged. Let me try to describe it a little better. The holes for the pipes would be centered between the hitch opening and the bumper edge on both sides and centered vertically. The hole openings would be slightly larger than the pipe tips to again add a custom touch. The pipe tips would be flush with the bumper (unless the heat would damage the paint or worse melt the plastic bumper). I think the Nissan Morano (spelling?) has the same pipe configuration as I'm contemplating.

I would let them stick through 1/4 to 1/2 inch, and use a slash tip similar to the ones I have. You can actually get an inner cooled tip that would be better than the ones I have at dissipating heat.
