I am new to this forum, but I live in Pittsburgh and have both front windows tinted. I have 2 cars and never had a problem. I have been doing this for over 10 years. For cars, I use 20 percent tint all around. To match the factory tint, you need to use 15 percent, but make sure it is dyed film if you are doing yourself. Experienced tinters know what to use to match.

If you ever get pulled over, roll down your windows and turn on your interior lights. This will allow the officer to see inside your car and not have any problems. The main concern of an officer is to see inside your car and know that you do not have a gun waiting for him. I know many officers who have their own cars tinted. They gave me this tip. If they feel safe for pulling you over for a traffic violation, they do not care.

I acutally had 1 minor issue. This is the first time I had tint. I had a 95 S10 lowrider with limo tint on all windows. I got pulled over immediately the next day. I got a warning and had to pull it off the windows and show up at the police station within 10 days or get a ticket. The cop said the only time they pull people over is when it is completely black. Since then, never did limo tint and never had a problem.

I have friends who were pulled over and they all had limo tint on the entire car or even tinted the windshield.

Just don't be stupid about it.

When I had my windows tinted, they recommended 35% (the most popular, apparently), but I opted to go with 45%, which lets in more light, but still not enough. Wish I'd gone with 55-60% on the front windows.

But then, that's my personal preference. I like to be able to see what's happening around me when I'm driving. I've driven small trucks, and I have good spot mirrors on both side mirrors, so don't mind the 20% tint on the rear window.
