I have a 2008 Nitro R/T. It came with factory tow package, but there is no switch for the tow mode. The manual shows it(if so equipped), wouldn't it come with the tow package?
Is there a way to turn off the parksense when towing a trailer? It is annoying to hear the beeps when I'm backing up the trailer.

Thanks in advance

Back up system can be turned off through the Personal Settings in the EVIC
Hi All,

My '08 R/T, mfr date 9/07, has both the RER NAV system and Trailer Tow and the ParkSense sensors are clearly there in the rear bumper cover. But there's nothing in my manual about a switch to turn off ParkSense if I were to tow something. And nothing scrolling thru the EVIC. - Pshrynk, I notice you're in Calgary, is it possible the on/off switch is a Canada only feature?

The greater concern is, I cannot find ANY reference to the ParkSense feature ANYwhere in my owners manual OR the Navigation manual?! What am I missing?

I've noticed on other of our brother/sister forums a lot of recent chatter about back-up cameras "finally becoming available" from Mopar. As I arrived somewhat late to the party, could someone provide some back ground and a little history on the subjects of ParkSense and oem integrated back-up cameras? - Thanks! I love this forum!

The only thing I can find in the 08 manual about the rear park assist is on page 166. Instrument panel and controls.

It appears that perhaps Canadian models may have a Parksense on/off switch that US Nitros do not, at least in the 2008 models. Anyone know if this is true?

This is where it was moved TO, not moved FROM...

- Is it possible the Parksense on/off switch is a Canada only feature?

- If SOME Nitros have the switch, can a switch be retro-fitted to those that don't have a switch... if they need one?

YIKES... Not brain-fade, more of my forum newbie-ness, personal ignorance. Now it makes sense. - Sorry all, and Thanks for your patience.

But still... that means none of the questions have actually been answered and they all still stand, doesn't it?

- How does razmataz turn off the Parksense when towing? Or any of the rest of us that have this feature but don't have the switch that minitrucker007 found on page 166 of our manuals? - Anyone know?

- How DOES this feature work for those that have it: Mine emits a single, one-time bleep as I approach something while backing up, and that's it. As said before, I've experienced this feature in the past as a repeating beep that became more rapid the closer I got to an obstacle until I got "close enough" and it switched to a continuous tone. Is a single beep 'normal' in your experience? I suppose if there were a switch or some alternate procedure to silence the Parksense when towing, it might emit a single beep and then go quiet. If so, How does one turn it back on? - Very curious.

- And... is there any info out there about back-up cameras becoming available from Mopar? It appears the RER/UConnect package is offered across most of the Mopar vehicle family and a camera is obviously a great addition to back-up system. (And an up-front system for many as well.) - Has a camera ever been mentioned as a possible/available oem option for the Nitro? Again, just curious. The after-market will always fill the vacuum.

Again, Thanks for straightening me out folks. I will try and do better, but these do seem to be reasonable, useful questions. Can anyone steer us in the right direction?

I have been here for over a year and I have seen a lot of people with different car types. One thing I have observed is there are tons of SXT models on here, there are also a lot of SLT models on here and a lot of R/T models. But there are more SXT's than any other. This is a lower line model of the Nitro that I guarantee you does not have the parksense system. Therefore the knowledge about this on the forums is going to be way less than other options on the Nitro. You seem to be posting back to back you might want to give the thread a couple of days before writing another long post to give our non day to day users time to get online and see what is new. Also some people don't want to read long post and I see this a lot. Try to keep it short. people normally read the hole post before answering know on this post they have to read a ton of repeated info before getting to the bottom to post,, see where I am going with this?

I have a loaded R/T there are 4 things my nitro does not have.
Full size spare tire
Nav
Parksense
rear located DVD

Even thought my car has almost all the options I still have no knowledge about this question or firsthand experience. But like many others on the forums I am willing to help you find an answer or lead you in the right way. which is what Nitrotech did by moving this thread.

minitrucker007: You're quite right, of course, thank you. The real questions were in my second post. I'll try and clean it up and withdraw the first one if it's allowed.

Stan The Man: Thanks for the info. The switch does appear in the US manual, right where yours is. Just no switch on the panel. Nothing comes up in the EVIC either. - Interesting that your UK SXT has the switch... Guess we could look behind the panel to see if it's wired for a switch. - Wonder if it's that easy!
