routine oil change pin pointed the transfer case is leaking,
I saw an oil spot on my garage floor too. What's involved
to fix the leak, it's wet along the bottom of where the two
halves join? thanks, douglas

The problem we have is knowing exactly where the leak is. Then we can get to a solution.

Hi Douglas, any chance of posting a pic, so we can see exactly where it is, i think mine has the same thing, haven't found oïl on the floor but have found traces of oïl on the skid plate.

if I had it up on a rack, I'd take a pic. It's leaking
along the bottom seam, all along the seam, where
the two halves join together. I hope that makes sense.
I'm going to make apt next week when a loaner is
available, it should be covered under warranty.
thanks, douglas

Makes perfect sense. The problem is it could be traveling down the seam line from someplace else.
Let us know what they find! :)

I had an oil leak as well on my 09 transfer case. The oil was all over the bottom of the transfer case and flung up onto the underside of the floor pan. The oil does tend to travel and mine was leaking at the output shaft seal. I had it replaced under warranty only to have it leak again within a month. Dealer decided to replace both the output yoke and seal, thinking there might have been a small defect on the yoke. It's been 6 weeks now and everything is still dry.

It turns out it wasn't the transfer case after all; it was
the rear driveshaft seal. Replaced under warranty.
thanks, douglas

Just remember to keep the Dodge "checkups" up to date and you should be good to go.

I've owned a lot of cars in my lifetime, and maybe it's
just luck, but I've never owned a car that was a total
piece of junk so much that I'd make the statement that
I hear so many others say, "I will never own a GM car
ever again, I will never own a Ford ever again, etc."
I have to say, this is the first Chrysler product I have
owned since the 70s, I could not be happier with my Nitro.
I like everything about it, I'd feel the same way even if I
didn't have lifetime, but the lifetime sure makes me like it
even more. thanks, douglas
