Hi,

Our SLT is hesitating when shifting at or around the 50km/hour range.(any other km Canadians out there). At first I thought it was the jerk you get when going over a sharp bump that jars you forward a bit, but now I know that its the tranny trying to decide what to do. It was really bad this morning when starting out. Local temp around -5C. Reading this forum looks like this is an ongoing problem. Definately wouldn't have pulled the trigger on this deal if I'd known 2 weeks ago what I know now. Looks like this nitro tranny needs some glycerin!(sp?)

Took TSB to dealer today; says we need new torque convertor; has to order part. My concern is that this is a major repair;to have this changed. Doesn't the complete engine and transmission assembly have to be physically removed from the vehicle to change the offending part? The dealer made it sound like it's more than a days work. What other problems are they unknowingly putting on when doing this? Can anyone confirm that after the torque convertor is replaced that this is indeed the end of the 50km/hr transmission bucking syndrome or should we be seriously looking at the trade option?

i've heard of people having the same prob. They also got their torque converters changed. If you surf the web enough you'd find out that some people have the problem return, some do not. Take your chances....later!
