My Nitro is 2,000 miles shy of 140,000 miles. Has anyone done a transmission overhaul? Is there anything you guys recommend I do?
I just know it is getting closer and closer to the time when I will have to either replace it or find a way to get the transmission to run smooth.

I am over 400,000 Miles, they did a fluid change at like 150,00 and another one at 250,000 and 350,000. I wouldn't do a flush just a change. Dealer said at the 350k mark that if it looks this good at 350k I should not have any problems with it. The car should fall apart before the transmission. lol It is a bullet proof transmission from what I have heard.

Sorry to be bearer of maybe not so good news.
The R/T uses a NAG1 trany. The trany behind the 3.7 is a 42RLE.
Not saying there is anything wrong with the 42RLE, just that comparing the 2 is like apples and oranges. Two completely different beasts.

Under normal use, all that is needed to keep the 42RLE running well is keeping the fluid full, along with regular fluid and filter changes at the correct intervals. Do not "flush" the transmission.

Is there a particular problem you have having robfriv77?

Glad Scar is here to straighten out my horrible info. Is the Nag1 a Mercedes built?

Yes, lately my transmission has been taking changes hard as I am driving. Not as smooth as it use to be.

First thing to do would be a filter and fill, if it has not been done recently.
Then I'd try a Neg(-) battery disconnect for 10 minutes. This will set the trany in learn mode. Then drive it like you stole it for a bit.

The NAG1 is also known as a W5A580. Yes.
