I had mine in yesterday, they have to order a torque converter, they are also fixing the speaker buzz which I didn't notice until it got cold, also the door locks. I was wondering has anyone else notice that when you have the heat on the floor it only blows on the passenger side, I had them look at that and they thought they fixed it but it wasn't, still cold feet on the driver side. Les I'm not sure the month, it was the one of the first one's sold around the La Crosse area, we picked it up Nov 3rd.

Packerbacker, picking up your nitro last Nov probably has the problem with the converter like mine did, I want to insure you if you dealer is on the ball the new converter and that latest TSB bulletin will take care of your problem, they also flashed by door locks, and something to do with the
HVAC control, also the vent hole in the coolant bottle has to be changed, ask about it. Good luck that everything turns out good. Les

Finally did the transmission flash reprogram today. I did not, however, replace the torque converter. Reason being the part of the TSB procedure is to enable torque converter break-in with a new torque converter. I had enabled break-in before this TSB was published and didn't want to do it a second time.

I also reprogrammed the HVAC module. I have not seen any documentation on what this update is. Back in December there was supposed to be a TSB on HVAC airflow but it was never published. It's possible this software update addresses an airlfow issue.

TSB Correction Problem

Took my Nitro to the dealer today to have this and several other things (most mentioned in the TSB's) corrected. Was told this morning that if they can not recreate the problems I am experiencing that they will not fix them even though I definately having some problems. Did anyone else have this problem? I love my Nitro but these issues seem to be causing some major head aches.

SlickRick,
My Nitro is waiting for a torque converter listed in the TSB.

I found with my car, the problem of a vibration, somewhere
between 38 and 48 MPH
(Feels Like driving over small strips of rubber)
Only Happens after acceleration, at a Maintain Speed of "around" 2200 R.P.M.
And Only after the Trans is Hot.
(As in - Drive it for a'while_Hot...)
Let you dealer know.
Also:
A Sloppy Shifting, or like an indecisive shifting from my trans occurs between 3 & 4th gears and only happens sometimes.
I can hear it and see it in the tachometer. it not bad enough to make it unsafe to drive.
I think that the guys with an abrupt surging at these speeds may be a "really bad shift controll occuring, but it's only an opinion.

I'm waiting for my dealer to get the torque convertor in to get this TSB done. Happy to hear the TSB for nitrolarry worked. I think after this is done to mine the only thing left is to ask about the HVAC TSB. I do love my Nitro:Racing:

I'm taking mine in tomorrow to get the TSB done along with getting my door locks fixed. I just don't want to part with it. :( Oh well. On another note, I found this on another site. It looks to be a revision update to the TSB (something about an updated part number).

Can anyone shed some light on something for me please??? I took all this information (including a printout of the entire thread so far) to my dealer (Tate Dodge, Glen Burnie, MD) and the kept my Nitro for an entire day to in the end tell me they couldn't do anything at this time for the following reason:

DC made them backout a revision (or two, or whatever) on their scantool because of some reason that nobody seems to want to tell me). And they claim they tried to pull the required firmware (7.03+, right?) from the TechConnect or whatever it's called and the site told them it wasn't available!!! So, they presently claim that DC hasn't yet started taking care of this problem........even after they read my printouts. They might as well get it over with and call me a lyer!!

I can't tell you all how miffed I am right now at these people!

Thanks for letting me rant a bit.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean when you said " DC made them backout a revision (or two, or whatever) on their scantool" but in reference to your dealer trying to update their StarScan through TechConnect, the problem is software release 7.03 was issued on a CD because it was a major update.

7.03 isn't available on Techconnect. Sorry this doesn't fix your problem.

Ok...I got more information out of my service manager......here goes:

They're up to date already on the 7.03 firmware, that wasn't the issue. The issue is that he says they're are trying to fetch the flash that the REV.A TSB references from the TechConnect website and he says that it's not available........that DC seems to have pulled it for some reason.

He told me he's got a call into DC about this, but that he can't move forward on this until he uses the flash that the TSB refers to.

Anyone who's in the industry wanna email him the flash.......sheesh. I don't get it. Why would DC publish a TSB with instructions to use a flash and then not make that flash available??

There seem to be issues with the latest software for the StarSCAN. It's known that there are communications problems now with SKREEM modules in the DR trucks and also airbag diagnostics in the LX cars.

I was investigating the flash on my Nitro and there seems to be a problem with the software level. All software flashes are downloaded according to the part number of the module. This is also the identifier of the software level currently in that module. Part numbers are 7-digit followed by a 2 letter sequence. Something like 05094144AG, then the upgraded software would be 05094144AH. It appears my flash may have reversed the software level. I was at XXXXXXXAH and now its at XXXXXXXAG. Very odd.

Wow.....that sounds creepy. So, maybe that's why my service manager insisted that the flash wasn't available.......... I guess I need to extend an apology to him for getting kinda nasty. I was getting reeeeal pissed because he wouldn't tell me what the hold up was.

I really need to take a chill pill *before* I go to the dealer next time. I just think the door should swing both ways. He wants me to forthcoming on information and expects me not to "speak in tongues." I just think he should too. Then again, I too live in that place called "the real world." :)

More info......he called me this morning to say he got ahold of someone at the TechConnect place to inquire about why he couldn't retrieve the flash that the TSB references. Again, he was told there was an issue with but that he would have it hopefully before the day is over. Soon as gets it, he'll call me and I'll bring back in the Nitro so they can do their thing.

In the meantime, probably because I was getting real irratating to deal with, he went ahead and ordered the TC so I could at least be finally put in line to receive one since they're aparently on national backorder.

I guess I just feel they should be a little more forthcoming with information....not voluntarily, but when I ask for it. I've spent a huge amount of money with them and expect to be treated a little better than just another dollar sign with legs. After a Plymouth Breeze (they sold Plymouths for a short time), Ram 1500, Ram 2500 CTD, and now this Nitro, that's the way I feel. :Racing:

jerking trans

larry thanks for info. 3300 miles and the torque smells hot on small hills like our driveway. trans does not want to shift from 2 to 1 gear causing heat build-up in trans/torque. the shudder is happening everynow and then. dealer has never found the shudder or jeking of transmission.

Well my dealer called me and said to bring my Nitro in. They were going to do this TSB. I didn't bother to ask if he had the torque convertor. So what does he do the morning of my appointment he calls and says he doesn't have the torque convertor and it on national back order. I guess I should have asked when he called and set the appoint. I get more info on this site than anywhere else it's great. I tried to ask him about the Flash but he says theirs is up to date it always is. I guess we will see once the convertor comes in.

Another question does anyone know (NitroLarry maybe) is this shudder beating on the tranny components? Am I better to run it in tow mode till I get the convertor?
