The torque converter shudder isn't causing any adverse wear on the rest of the transmission. Engaging the the Tow/Haul mode changes the shift schedule but doesn't disable TC lockup. TC engagement is also used to reduce heat build-up in a transmission. I wouldn't bother with the Tow/Haul mode.

Got mine back with the new torque converter, reprogramed, recall done... just waiting for flocking to come in to fix the door rattle.

So far so good... shifts smooth, a lot quieter (no more rumble strips), the dealer has been excellent, hopefully the fuel economy will increase now... I was getting 14/19.

Transmission TSB.

I have a 2007 nitro Slt,3.7L engine.Mine has all the syptoms, but the dealer told me there was no TSB on my vehicle. It was built 9/26/06.On the trans tag it has the #443 KA. Ser.9 26 06.I'm pretty sure this falls into the TSB.Can you enlighten me,all those letters and numbers have me confused. My Nitro thunks going into second when moving slow in traffic,it also vibrates in fourth gear when just cruising at about 40 to 45 MPH.:shakehead:

Do I need to have the revised version of the TBS 21-002-07 done on my Nitro? The dealer performed the original version on it in early February. Someone let me know!

There is no need to have the revised TSB performed. The revision was only a part number change to the torque converter for the Pacifica.:)

I've had my Nitro about a month now, build date 12/06. I was having same trouble as everyone else with tranny. Rumble in trans 35 to 45 mph, was acting like it would shift into overdrive but would not shift back down. Took it to dealer and told them about the TSB's. They gave it back and said they hooked it up to the web and it updated something. Now my real ? I got it back and started home, I was getting real rough shifts now, where before it shifted real smooth? Is there a possibility it will need to be broke in with a new update or did I just get a worse bug now?

This TSB says it applies to 41TE, 42RLE, or 62TE automatic transmissions. How do I find out what transmission I have?

I have a R/T with a 5 speed automatic build date 12/15/2006, just not sure of the transmission code.

The reason I am asking is I seem to be experiencing this issue (or one similar to it). Its at the dealer now. I provided them this TSB information. They just called and said that this TSB doesn't apply to my transmission. How can I verify that this is accurate.

They said they had 3 techs test drive the vehicle and can't reproduce the problem. They think its just the 20" rims with the stiffer suspension on the R/T making the road bumps more noticeable.

I'm also seem to be having the torque converter shudder problem. I'm taking it in tomorrow Saturday and I'm just hoping this fixes the issue.

What is the ETA usually on this work? Thks.

Well... I was not able to leave the car for repair today, car dealerships here in Miami are crazy during the weekend; they re-scheduled me for Mon or Tue.

Would the car be affected from me driving it until then? And if is okay to drive it is there any suggestions/precautions I should have in mind.

Thanks to this forum I found this issue, you guys are great.

Yes its ok to drive. If your dealer decides to replace the torque converter expect to leave it for the day. Also be aware that the torque converters have been on National backorder so its likely you will have to wait until your dealer gets one for your vehicle. Hopefully our wait won't be too long.

I have a question --- I had my torque converter replaced in January. THe Nitro was a lot better. This week, it started having the shudder again around 1.5 RPMs and 40 miles per hour. Now what do I do? The dealer already did the TBS on it. Any suggestions? I don't want to get rid of my Nitro! I really like it.

Back to the service department Donna. Get them to diagnose the problem and take it from there. Sorry but there's not much else I can suggest until your dealer looks at it.
