Hmm. What do you figure they meant by "must of have been on the internet"?

They said the same thing to me, mainly because the TSB is so new and most dealers are aware of the member boards and since most dealers havent done tehse before we are mentioning to them before they have dealt with the TSB they figure weve talked to other owners who have had to deal with it prior..

Well, I had this done today and it did not take care of the drivetrain noise I'm hearing that was not present on the SXT we test drove earlier. It's going back in on Tuesday for a more complete diagnosis.

The vehicle can be at any temp. I hear it at both acceleration and deceleration, and the sound changes pitch slightly with speed. It is loudest at 40mph on a flat surface, tach at 1500 under very light throttle. To me, the sound is similar to that of a cheap battery-powered R/C car. I'm told it's more noticeable in the back seat. Thanks for any input.

Just out of curiousity do you think the noise is what is describe in the other TSB posted addressing a whistle like noise from the throttle body to intake? Noises can transfer and perception of its location can be tricky. I suggest reading that TSB and then driving your vehicle to confirm whether its possible that is the issue or not. Let me know.

Anything is possible, but I've read that TSB as well and it doesn't sound anything like a whistle to me, and is very noticable to everyone I've had in the vehicle even with the radio turned up a bit. I will definately let the dealer know about that one as well on Tuesday and see what their conclusions are. Thanks again.

Glad to hear that your problem was fixed. I,however, am still having problems with my nitro after I received it back from the garage. They had told me the problem was fixed but, my wife and I have both noticed it since.

Transmission Prob and noise Gone

Nitro Larry, Nitro Will and others, Just want you to know; ......The upgrade of Flash Memory on the Trans for the low speed shifting problem worked for my SLT. ....
The Noise from the drivetrain (clunking) is gone too.
I think someone here said it was a torque converter noise. Whatever it was it's gone!
..... The bolts for the rear suspension all checked out good too.
Thanks, :) Frank (boattech)

The dealer believes that there is a problem with the ring gear in the rear diff. Parts have been ordered, so we'll see in a few days if that resolves the noise I'm hearing. In the meantime I get to drive a base model Caravan, yay!

On the bright side, my remote start came in today and they were installing it this afternoon when I talked to the service department.

Is that a rental or a loaner? My 5-Star dealer doesn't have loaners and I have had to fight with them in the past to get them to pay for a rental for me. . . I think all 5-Star Dealers should have loaners available. Especially for repeat customers. . .

It's one of their used cars off the lot. I don't think this is something that they normally do (although I think it should be available for anyone getting service, too) but this is the second vehicle I've bought through them in a year.

Ok FINALLY. My problem has been solved! As the dealer suspected, my noise was coming from the rear differential. They believe it wasn't set up correctly at the factory. Based on the parts list on my paperwork, they basically replaced everything inside the carrier.

That's great the problem was solved. I like hearing that. Talking about rear axles, a couple of years back the Jeep Grand Cherokee's had such bad rear differential noises that the company that manufactured them for Chrysler pretty much lost their business. That was Dana which had provided axles for Chrysler for almost forever. The problem was near impossible to correct because the housings had been machined incorrectly so changing ring and pinion gears wouldn't solve the problem. Chrysler now mainly uses American Axle Corp.

Larry, Dana is a company that has potential but they for one, are up against forign MFG's (and it is hard to be compeditive) and second, I don't think they are well managed... Just check their Stock Prices for the past 10 years, it's sad.

bch, I'm glad to hear the differential is fixed! Goes to prove that New doesn't mean Perfect.

Best of Luck,
Frank
