Has anyone had any issues with the flimsy cover panel under the dash falling?

When I was shopping for my Nitro I noticed it after a test drive on the one I drove...I just dismissed it as it must have got caught by some clumsy test drivers foot. :i_rolleyes:

Then I have noticed it a couple of times sagging on my Nitro here lately. :(

:thk: I know exactly how to fix it by putting a stiff piece of metal or plastic on the back side to re-enforce it.

I was just wondering if there were others out there?

Yes, I noticed this Saturday when I was installing the wiring for my off-road lights. You have to really stuff the right side up under there and it will hang on something, not sure what, but it seemed to stay put for the time being. If it keeps on slipping down, I'll just punch a hole through the right end and put a zippy tie on it.

LOL...yeah it catches barely on the diagnostic plug...I think I might take a piece of 1/8 inch ABS I have and make a strip to reinforce it and use a push pin perhaps.

It looks like they would have done a better job designing that since its above the gas and brake pedals.

Thanks for the reply!

Diagnostic plug, yikes!, no I pushed it way, way up in there, so far as to virtually disappear unless you stick your head in the foot well and look up. It hung up on either a wiring harness or some other roundish tubular object. I guess I could go out and look, eh?

Yeah I know which tube you speak of I did the same thing.

The edge of Diagnostic plug bracket just barely touches it. I'm a 12 volt wire running guy dont want to damage those babies!

Piqued my interest, so I looked.

It was hanging lower than the first time I saw it. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Where it should be.

Like I said, zippy tie time for me. If I tie it to the electronic component (with the two turquoise wires plugged into it), it should hold it securely but still rotate down out of the way if I need up under the dash.

Just a word of warning, I was too lazy to fix my wife's and decided to take it for a drive one day. As I lifted my foot off of the gas to put it on the brake it got stuck. Ended up running a red light and missed a car by inches. That thing WILL get in the way eventually. Either take it off or fix it right.
