Better plan on keeping your Nitro for a long, long, long, long time!
1st of all, don't flame me but here is my situation:
Due to changes in our family situation, we need to either get rid of one vehicle, or buy one that doesn't get 10mpg in the city.
Now keep in mind we have a loaded RT that stickered for over $38k + pdi + freight + taxes.
Then on top of that, we added some Mopar stuff and extended warranty and a second set of rims.
1 month in the Auto Trader yielded nothing. Not even a lowballer!
As a trade, 1 dealer offered $0 (he wouldn't touch it), 1 offered $15k, and the other offered $23.
Remember this truck is only a little over 1/2 year old with only 14,000 on the clock.
Sorry but I had to vent my frustrations. Oh well, off to look for a second job . . .

sorry to hear about that Mike. hope everyone is okay there! Yeah, maybe because the Nitro's are so new and seem to have "issues", the resale right now is low. who knows!
I didn't buy mine with the hope of a resale value. I generally keep my vehicles until they are literally worth nothing! take care!

Thanks for the nice toughts everyone! Physically, we're all fine.
I appreciate it.
I had no intention of getting rid of it before 10 years but a combination of things lead me to have to explore that route.
Life throws you lemons and you make lemon aid.
I guess I'll just tighten the old belt 1 more notch!

my wife and I just got our 07 RT used. It has 2500 miles on it. Came fully loaded. DVD, MyGig, leather, remote start, Tow package, sunroof. Pretty much everything. We got it for 24,250. I couldn't believe it as I have priced many RT's and with all those options, it was over 30k. Good thing I love it and will keep it till she runs no more.

Over the years I have found that unless you buy a true collectable or limited edition vehicle, the resell is never all that great. I have had dealers telling me how great the resale vaule will be when I am trying to buy but then it is worth nothing when trying to trade it in.

If anyone is buying a daily driver as an investment, they should think again. I quit worrying about the resale and decided I would buy what I liked and what fit my needs...

With the Life-time warranty, I plan on driving my Nitro until it can't be fixed or until Chrysler gets tired of seeing me and won't fix it any more!! :Na_Na_Na_Na:

That's exactly what pushed me over the edge when picking the Nitro. They had just announced the lifetime powertrain warranty, so I'll be keeping on to it for a loooong time to come, knock on wood. Resale value's nice and all, but I'm like Waldorf and run them to the ground, so the lifetime warranty was huge.

bad resale is just a characteristic of American cars, unfortunately. Like someone said above, you cant buy a daily driver as a long term investment. Look it as transportation. What its worth to you. You should see the resale on vehicles that are used by rental companies, such as Taurus's or Impalas. The market gets flooded with them from the rental companies and they can be had extremely cheap.

I look at my new Nitro as I did for my past vehicles, a daily driver that if I customize I won't get my money back but need to be happy. I drive my vehicles for 5 years, until they are paid off (25-30k miles a year for 5 years) and then sell them out right. Trades are not a good idea in my mind. I wish you well selling your Nitro.

Very sad reality. Most North American vehicles have a very poor resale value. I have a Chrysler 300, in which I paid approximatley $40,000 for in 2005. I saw one for sale for $13,000 in a used car lot recently. Very sad.

I am so glad I leased this one. In the past I've always only kept vehicles for only 2 or 3 or maybe 4 years on the outside -- and I used to often just buy them outright. I finally figured out how much money I was wasting by trading them in and how much of a PIA it is to sell them privately.

Now I just give em back and get a new one once they get dirty :D
