I have had my Nitro less than a week, but in that short time I have really enjoyed the Mygig system. I have only found one thing that would improve the systems ease of use greatly.

The voice recognition of the Mygig is great, so handy when in situation where you need to keep your eyes on the road. However, I am not sure why they did not put a button to activate the VR on the steering wheel. Currently to activate it you need to reach across to the far side of the Mygig interface to hit the VR button, and normally it requires several commands to get to the functions you want. That means reaching for the button several times.

Has anyone found another way to activate the VR without reaching for the button? Or found another way to make the VR system work without activating the VR button several times? i.e. Changeing from HDD playback to Sat radio, then to channel X ?

To change the radio from one source or mode to another push the middle button on the left hand of the steering wheel controls and then use the upper or lower buttons on the left hand to change stations on the Satellite Radio.

At least that is how the 6 disc DVD radio works and I would imagine the MyGig works the same way, but I could be wrong.

I have decided not to get the MyGig to replace my 6 disc DVD radio because I am pursuing installing a "Carputer". In fact I just bought the touchscreen monitor yesterday that has two video, one audio and one vga input. It is the exact size to fit the dash shelf with a 7 inch diagonal, high definition touchscreen. I will hook it up one of the video inputs to the 6 disc DVD radio, so I,..... I mean my front seat passenger, can watch movies on that screen. The Carputer will get navigation software, like another project here on the forums, and the 2nd video input may get connected to a back-up camera, or TV tuner w/antennae.

I'm off to check how Jaerho-Nitro is doing with his "Carputer" install.

We have freegig which activates video in motion. As far as backup cam. I did say that but I can only go by what the engineers tell me. We are getting ready for SEMA so most developmental projects are on hold. Sorry.....But I promise to keep the Forum posted about updates.......Susanne
