I removed my bug deflector a couple of weeks ago to see what effect it had on the hood vibration and fuel economy and noticed that the rubber bumpers that touch the hood actually removed the clear coat in two spots. You can see this clearly in the pix below. I'll be chatting to the dealership this week seeing as they installed it...

What!?
I just ordered one (not in stock here) I shall think again, 'cause stones don't make such a bad marks compared to those:shakehead:

Hope u get some compensation from the man.

I don't ever plan to remove my chrome bug deflector, so any slight mark caused by the rubber bumpers does not concern me. Ever since I got the hale damage, my Nitro still looks good but definitely is not new any more.

I put my bug deflector on myself. Did the dealer attach the rubber bumpers to your hood or the bug deflector? I attached them to my hood.

They attached them before delivery, on the bug deflector. They actually put the outer screws in too deep and put spiderweb cracks in the paint on the top of the hood. It had to go back in for a repaint one week after I got it.

I bought the Lund Interceptor II. It goes on with double sided tape, and while it comes with both screws and bumpers, neither are necessary. It's a good inch from my hood, and doesn't flex much at all.

The Mopar one doesn't really need the bumpers as it too is quite a way from the hood, but it does move depending on the weather. I have noticed the bumpers both on and off the hood because the plastic expands and contracts with the heat and cold.
