has anyone had this problem yet? I have been niticing a musty smell inside the cab the last couple of days, it seems that I have a leak somewhere and it is building up on the floor on the driver side of the vehicle, both the front and the back seat floor area are just soaked. We recently had about an inch of rain overnight and the plastic kleenex container that was sitting on the floor was totally saturated. I am going to call the dealer to get this checked out.
I have never noticed this before when I had washed the vehicle.

Hi 1stSLT, welcome:wavey:

I haven't had this problem, but I remember seeing other posts regarding this issue. It may be the door seals. Definitely take it in and have them make it right before any damage to the vehicle occurs:i_rolleyes: Good luck!

sunroof?

Do u have a sunroof? We had issues with our sunroof's drain hose being pinched during assembly causing the trough around the sunroof to fill to almost overflowing! These 4 drain tubes run down the pillars and out the bottom of your rig. Also I push the seals back in place around all the doors periodically cause they seem to come loose...

congrats

Congrats and welcome. You should get that check out right away. My 04 grand cherokee did the same thing but I never had it checked out. I leased it and was not going to keep it at the end of the lease.

I am sorry to hear of your water problems. Keep a towel on the floor and in the back on the floor when it rains it does help keep the carpet drier. That is what I did with my old Jeep.

good luck and enjoy the new ride. Keep us posted on how the dealership handles this issue.

I just had the same problem, except it was only on the passenger side.
I took it to the dealer and they spent a lot of time trying to find a leak in the door, but it turned out to be a clog in the sunroof drainage. We have had a lot of rain - dealer said leaves were clogging it and causing the water to somehow go through the door down to the floorboard...

ok i have a similar problem. my dad both 2 nitros one for him and one for me. he doesnt live with me but i see him all the time and his nitro has black ANTS all along the doors on the inside. sometimes they get into the cab and u see them running along the steering wheel. its not an overwhelming amount but still ants inside your car is annoying. i think there is an open space where water or ants are seeping through. he doesnt have a sunroof either and its only through the doors that they come through. i have parked in his spot and nothing has happened to my nitro.

Hey thanks for all the input, I was expecting it to be the sunroof drains but I wasn't sure where they drained to but it looks like the water is coming down the pillars. I have it booked into the dealer for next week so I will see what they find out. maybe it won't rain until then. I have learned in the winter to leave my interior sunroof cover opened as well otherwise condensation builds up on the inside of the glass and fill the headliner and interior roof light.

Well, I hate to say it, but I must add to this thread. We have had our Nitro for about two weeks and are really pleased with it. We had it in to get a bug deflector and some mud flaps installed, and pick up our winter mats. The dealer washed the car and my wife mentioned that the winter mats were just thrown in on top of the summer ones. I went to take out the extra mats only to find the floor on the drivers side was soaked. Not happy to be bringing a Nitro with less than 1000k in for warranty, but what do you do? It is a 2007, so I am wondering if there has been water soaking in there while it was on the lot waiting to be bought. Having it in tomorrow and getting it all checked out. Fingers crossed for an easy fix.

Leak's fixed!! I guess it was a seam leak just above the floor pan on the drivers side. We had a torrential rainstorm yesterday and the Nitro's dry as a bone. Next issue, those damn rattling roof rails!!

I had a wet patch in my trunk last week and this past weekend after the heavy downpours we had. Strange, but nothing after last summers storms which are far worse, albeit shorter. I think it's leaking from the top of the rear quarter glass.

If you have a sunroof I've seen where the drain tubes are collapsed or may be disconnected. Sometimes the problem becomes more pronounced when the vehicle is parked in a slight nose down position. Often the problem cannot be duplicated if water tested when parked level.

After reading your post and others about wet floors, it was one of the first things I did this morning after our torrential downpours last night (not to mention the lightning, thunder, and tornado close by). I went out to check under the slush mats and all was dry. At least if it was leaking and wet, I could tell the service dept. to check the drains from the sunroof as a possibility.

I never noticed anything, until today. Because of the weather and high miles in a year on my Nitro, I have parked it for a month. The way it was parked, it would cause water to run into the driver side footwell, becuse of the way my driveway runs. Sweetie, I mean "Meangirl", I would have your dealer check yours out.

I didn't get the sunroof....not a fan, so does that mean that my beast is safe from the "wet floor" option?

Hi All,
Like some of you guys mention, I also had water splashing around in the drivers footwell. Took it back to the dealers and they found that the door harness seal had split. When it rained or I washed the car,the water ran down between the frame and the door and got inside the car via the split seal. If you still have the leak, jhave a check if the seal is ok. Luckily, had the seal replaced under warranty!

Good luck
Maz
