Has anyone taken the front bumper cover off ?
I was wondering what was underneath were the 2 bump outs are, on either side of the license plate. Does the frame go out to there or is it just molded that way for looks ? i was thinking if putting hooks like the hummer has in the front on these .

It's more than likely just molding for looks, but I'll check it out.

I think I remember reading somewhere that it is a safety standard. So I would assume that there is some sort of shock resistant material under there to help with fender benders? Just a thought.

kind of makes a person think many things about this situation. one, the bump outs, are they of any significance towards the figure of a womans body??? did a woman do all of the final sketches of the nitro??:smileup: finally, i now hope that i don't start looking at my nitro inappropriately!!!!:chuckle:

I would think the shock absorber would be formed to the inside of the "bump outs" otherwise what safety could it offer just being plastic...it would crush like a coke can

Ahhh, but the Euro model doesn't have them. So they must have different safety standards. Usually European standards are way higher than over here.

yes sir mr. buzz, i am on my meds, i think that this is what started it........good meds is what they are!! the main med is the "chewable flintstone vitamin"!!!:chuckle::chuckle::chuckle:

if someone has the bravery to do so, grab hold of them, uh, i mean take off the plastic around the two boobs or what do they call it, bumps, to see exactly what is under there. i'm sure we all would like to know. just make sure no one is in the front seats in case the air bags accidentally "explode" outwards!!!

I would guess that you will not find metal anywhere close to the bumps as the European Nitro does not have them. I assume the void is filled with foam.

If it is just for looks, you might be able to mount the hooks with screw anchors.

I don't think you will see much looking up under there.

Go ahead and give it a shot. Take a camera with you that has a close up setting. I have lights and brackets mounted in front of the cooler and can't ever see up under the bumper now or I would take some pix myself.

I to sure would like to know I have just about finished my basket for the back of the nitro,but i would much rather have it in the front. like my ram.Thanks for any input.

I'll bet that there is that styrofoam cooler junk behind that, they don't use shocks anymore. Just a guess

FYI everyone there is nothing in there. I had my bumper cover replaced because of an accident. The shop guy let me look at the bumper and the new cover. They are just empty pockets.

I also had to replace my bumper cover, just some molded plasitc under there to act as a absorber.
