With all the talk regarding slow sales ,chopping block status, Liberty outsells Nitro and last but not least negative statement about Nitro being problematic .When will the new leadership spend some of the billions of $ they promise to inject into Chrysler /Dodge /Jeep to advertise Nitro ? I personally, have seen just one T.V. commercial about Nitro and zero magazine OR new papers advertising Nitro. With all the BLING I have added to my Sunburst Orange Nitro I get gawkers at every stop. Always it's WHAT IS IT ?? I never saw one before, are they expensive, how much do they cost ,how do you like it ? On one occasion a lady walked up to me while I was parked ,waiting for my wife outside a bank ,and said "You must have hit the lottery " .I told her they didn't cost that much. Even my neighbors didn't have a clue as to what the hell I drove home this time .While owning my Nitro ,in the last 10 weeks,I have seen on the road just one other Nitro. Yesterday I must have seen 10-12 Jeep commercials . When does the advertising blitz for Nitro begin. Never in the past have I seen a New Vehicle brought onto the market with such little exposure as Nitro. No surprise here that sales are sluggish at best. Am I alone here and is this "No market exposure " just a Florida thing or is it nation wide ?

There was a big blitz a year ago when the Nitro was a new vehicle. This year, not so much, you are right.

Yes I have not seen any thing other than in our local dealer adds in our paper, they have had the past few days a lease on 08 SXTs for $199 a month with $2500 down
We don't even get to see a Nitro in the ads. This past Friday there were ads regarding Jeep and Dodge from both Dodge dealers here in town. Pictures of both complete lines carried EXCEPT NITRO !!

No advertising here in Oregon either. I was at the dealer last week to get the TPM checked and they had 3 Nitros on the lot. They just had the usual window price sticker. While chatting with a sales lady she didn't know squatt about the Nitro. I ofcourse bragged it up. I have seen maybe three in my travels from Roseburg to Portland and all over Eugene. I am right on the I5 corridor so I see a lot of new vehicles. The plus side is that we have a unique vehicle that gets lots of attention.

Dodge ads

Yesterday I saw a Dodge ad during one of the football games. Just a generic "Deal of a Lifetime" Dodge ad. The Nitro was sitting alone in the back and very little is seen of it. I think one of the reasons for poor sales is POOR marketing by Dodge and Chrysler as a whole. Not just the Nitro. Its all about the deal, not why you might want the vehicle before you make the deal. The original ads were supposed to be cute I guess, but looked to be just stupid. This is not a cute vehicle. Marketing got cold feet at this more aggressive looking truck. This is not a bad vehicle and mine sure does attract the attention as yours does.

Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep has started to streamline their vehicles, too many of the same type.

Even across the Jeep suite, they will be cutting back on models.

Here's a great Valentines Day campaign:
His and Hers matching vehicles!
For Her: Jeep Liberty
For Him: Dodge Nitro

I think most of us are aware that 5 models are to be axed for 2010. Those that were labeled losers in Forbes mag. The shocker was the P.T. Cruiser whose sales were off 50%. But I don't think this accounts for the Nitro being relegated to the INVISIBLE arena. If anything ,with fewer models ,they should be pushing them MORE ..

Suggested campaign slogan " Buy a Nitro ,the SUV that BLOWS the others away"

Would it be any surprise that some of these vehicles sales are off? I have friends that love their Pacificas, but there has been little if any updating on them since introduction. They put no effort or money into marketing these once they are introduced. Why not reskin or put new interiors in them and try to compete? Same for the PT, but it is the PT convertible they are axing, not the 4 dr. My daughter drives a PT and its like a little minivan. Looks like more of the same with the Nitro. Not to get off subject too much, but I think the designers at Chrysler try a little too hard to be different and end up just looking ugly.

I too think that the advertisement for these things isn't that great. Also, all of the dealers that I work with only usually have 2 or 3 of them at a time and never are they a RT. But, you sure see a crapload of Durangos, Aspens, Commanders, Patriots, and the rest.

Dodge did a simular thing with the SRT4. Hardly anyone knows what they are. I had a 2004 srt4 and they came out in 2003. I sold the car this past summer and up until I sold it I still had people ask me what it was. And you guys think that the Nitro has it bad.

Most people didn't know what a hot little racecar the Neon could be. My daughter turned her nose up at the thought of driving a Neon until I rented one on vacation. She learned the true meaning of the OHSh--- handle. And that wasn't even the SRT4!

:Racing:I agree, you see all the adds on tv for dodge and they never show the nitro, no mention, even at the dealer i go to there is all kinds of adds and pictures of everything but the nitro. Jeep advertizes real heavy but dodge no nitro's, chrysler is missing the boat big time on this vehicle and most of us love the vehicle even though we have had some problems its a great car to drive and own. I'm am looking forward to going to florida again this year in my nitro as the ride and handling is great, i don't care what consumers report says, i guess chrysler doesn't contribute enough to get a favorable write up

Last night and again tonight .T.V. commercials for Jeep multiple times and Chrysler each night. Whenever I see a Dodge commercial it's about the Caravan. I think the Nitro has become the proverbial Stepchild. At this rate it'll be a miracle if the Nitro survives.:(

Yesterday an article appeared in our local newspaper ...It was in the WHEELS section of the newspaper and appears weekly. A portion of this section is questions and answers... The caption this week was "Dodging an SUV ". Condensing the question it read...Although gasoline is 3 + dollars a gallon buyers seem not to care and still want to drive an SUV....We love our Dodge truck but for some trips we need an SUV.. Why doesn't Dodge make an SUV...? The writer of this column ...a woman named Sharon Peters ...Answering said...Dodge does make an SUV...and if that's too large for your needs...A new SUV crossover called Journey will come onto the market next month...It will drive a lot like an Avenger or Sebring...The platform upon which Journey will be built.. Not one word regarding the Nitro...I think this person doesn't have a clue that Nitro Exists...I did e-mail her and invited her to pop in for a visit to our Forum and speak to some of the thousands that belong here ...She has failed to respond to my mail ...
