I'm looking to be lazy and do a straight upgrade on the door speakers.
I DONT want to pop off the dash to turn off my factory tweeters.
I want to install high quality 6.5s full range in the doors.

Would you advise against doing this because it would sound weird? or is putting nice 3-way speakers in the doors acceptable while keeping the tweeters on?

Do you have a factory Amplifier and sub-woofer in the RR panel behind the seat?
If not, the dash tweeters T off the front speakers. The problem is I do not know where the T is located. If it is at the front door speaker, you can always disconnect it there if it does not sound right.

I DO have the factory amp and sub in the back. Thanks for the info. I'll look into this "T" off point and find it if I can't stand the way it sounds afterwards. I appreciate you!

With the OEM Amp and Sub, the wires for the IP(Instrument Panel[dash]) speakers come directly from the Amp. Your rear doors should also have separate tweeters in them. IE 2 speakers per rear door.

oops! I read your first reply backwards, good thing you clarified. yes. my rear speakers also have sep tweeters in them. Crap. I don't want to have to rip off my dash..
ugh. .

Let's say I do the whole dash thing and buy component speakers to replace the door and tweets all around, is it still as simple as plug n play (like the full range door speakers would be?)

Yes but no. You will most likely have to cut the OEM plugs off the wires, or tap into the wires and leave the plugs hanging.
But if you'd rather not tear into the dash, you can access the Sub and Amp in the rear and just remove the IP wires from the plugs.

Before doing any work on the Nitro, disconnect the Neg (-) battery cable, isolate It, and wait 10 minutes!
This will allow time for the airbag capacitors to discharge.
You don't want to have your airbags go off accidentally.
It has already happened to a few members here...
