I must say, my AVIC-D3 does everything MyGiG does and MORE. Everything about it looks factory too! I will post pics A.S.A.P.

1.Navigation is excellent
2.Bluetooth is excellent
3.XM NavTraffic is excellent
4.Ipod Integration is seamless!

All of that for under $1300.00 installed! I LOVE IT! (going to put the backup cam in later) Who needs MyGiG? :Na_Na_Na_Na: (BTW, this post is NOT A KNOCK ON MYGIG, it's a knock on DCX for not having it readily available to us SXT ownerz!)

I need MyGig

I would have to say that for an aftermarket unit that is a good choice. The only downfall they mention in the review is the fact that you have only a single DVD/CD slot so you have to switch back and forth from the NAV DVD and music.

But one thing that you're missing is the major reason I waited for MyGig. My .. GIG. MyGig has a 20G hard drive to download music and pictures. I bought a fully loaded red R/T for my wife and she loves the music and picture options. She already has moved about 2,000 songs and about 100 pictures on to it. Another great feature is the fact that you insert a new music CD and then copy it to the hard drive. You never have to put that CD in the truck again since you HAVE IT. A couple more features you are missing are the steering wheel controls and the full voice activation/navigation system for the unit.

I don't want to start a war, but I'm glad I waited for MyGig. It is everything they proposed and well worth the 12 week wait I had for my order.

Nice of you to chime in on this! I can honestly say, I don't care for "My.. GIG anymore. My... AVIC-D3 is doing just great. My.. 80 GIG ipod can be controlled from my touchscreen, and can hold waaaaay more data than the 20 gig hard drive, not to mention that my whole setup costs a few hundred dollars less, and I can put all the pictures and music on it that I want.:D
Hey, it's all about what you want at the end of the day, and since DCX didn't have My..GIG ready and available for My NITRO, I chose to do something about it, and purchase My AVIC-D3. Also, with an ipod connected to my computer with Limewire and Apple Store.. I wouldn't need to copy any cd's, because it's all synced up nice n neat anyway.

Note* While MyGIG does have a 20GIG hard drive, about 5-7 GB's of that is allocated for map data. No flaming wars please...:shakehead:

I have to agree with NB. i love My Clarion Max675VD much more than I would have the MyGig... I held out for a while and decided to go the aftermarket route and I am glad I did. To echo NB's words... the HD really isn't its all cracked up to be when you can use a Zune or iPod to accomplish the same thing with the added flexibility of it being portable instead.

I need MyGig

You make some good points. I can't say that I was very happy with the way DCX handled the whole situation. I had a lease on my Durango that Chrysler Financial gladly extended for me an extra month while I waited for what my wife wanted. And you are correct, in the end it all comes down to what you like, and I have to say that this system is great.

I'd like to see your total cost for your Avic-d3, separate satellite tuner, cost of 1 year service that I get for free, bluetooth adapter, and 80G Ipod. By my calculations the cost isn't much different.

Again though, no wars, we are all happy NITRO owners.

I agree x2! I love my AVIC-D3 and my Nano, and iPod Video. I can watch Video/Movies from my iPod, and my Portable DVD player with the Video inputs under my passenger seat. No mater where I go I can watch DVD's and don't have to ever take the DVD out of my D3. Can't do that without and expensive add-on NAV-TV piece. Got my D3 from BB for $849 after a price match, my portable DVD player was free as a gift from work, and my iPod was $349, still way cheaper than the MyGig, and we can control the iPod while it sits in the glove box. I wanted MyGig very badly since November when I bought my Nitro, and with the intorduction of the D3, that replaced my D2, my wife hasn't heard one rant about how I should've just got MyGig.:Banana01:

How do you move 100 pictures onto myGig?

MyGig

:iagree: For an all-in-one unit I would agree that the MyGig system is a step above. If you want to piece together high end products from each category then you will get an awesome system, but out of the box MyGig takes it.

I personally didn't move 100 pictures, I only moved 5, but my wife moved the rest and said it was about 100. I took pictures from my laptop and moved them to a USB thumb drive. Plugged the thumb drive into MyGig and it asks you if you want to copy the files. Very intuitive system.

The next step is to integrate blackberry features. Having email pop up on they display (of course only when vehicle is in park ;)).

Appointment and meeting reminders pop up with integration to NAV so when your meeting is on display you can hit a button and it searches out the address of the location and creates a route.

Soon enough we'll all just be passengers.

You cannot control your stereo with the steering wheel or see the dash display with the above named aftermarket stereos though, right?

I got to imagine that someone will come out with an add on that will allow ipod integration for the mygig.

I'm still on the fence...

Unbiased comparisons needed me thinks!

Where are we going to find some unbiased comparison reviews for these different options?

How about listing the feature sets side by side in a table and putting it up on this forum? There are still a few of us who are trying to determine which direction to go while we wait for MyGig radios to become available at our local dealers.

Or we could continue to talk about "My radio is better than your radio". :4-jump2:
