Every review I read talks about all these negatives about our car. Crappy handling, gas mileage, resale value, looks ... I mean honestly why do so many people dislike the Dodge Nitro? I have had my car since August with only a few minor problems, other than that, I am getting decent MPG for an SUV, have a ton of power in my R/T with intake and exhaust, and I love the looks. The only problem I have with Nitro's would probably be the look of my front end, but after the Eibach springs come out I should be happy. ANYWAYS, any one have some input?

The front end is one of the reasons I like the Nitro so much!

Envy and fear. It threatens them. They don't like the Nitro's radical-looking aggressive in your face styling that point out their own model's blah tepid uninspiring cookie-cutter look. In effect, after these other model owners see a Nitro they realize how much their car gets lost in the parking lot. Consequently the Honda Honchos direct the Consumer Reports of the world to beat the Nitro down. They don't want more and more people to look at their cars and compare them to the Nitro and then feel inadequate and consequently ripped off.

Congratulate yourself for being one of the chosen few. :D

I like what I am driving (Nitro), and it suites me just fine. I will not engage in measuring tape battles over which vehicle is better. Saw a fellow with a tricked out 4 x 4 the other week hung up on a snowbank, probably trying to impress others and vent his frustration with slow traffic. Looked like he would have to be towed off of where he had lodged his vehicle. Again, the Nitro has the attitude I like.

Over the years, I have owned numerous "cool cars" from a '63 Corvette split-window, 70 GTO 455 Ram-Air, '84 Corvette, '99 GTP Gran Prix and now the '07, Black Nitro R/T. I can't go to Home Depot or a convenience store without someone asking, "What the heck is that truck, it's awesome looking", or I really like that truck. Seldom heard that about the other vehicles. As for the complaints on the Nitro, it's not a "cheap-date", mine listed for over $30,000 so I don't expect problems. As you can see by my name, this is my first Chrysler product and that "scares" me as I grew up working on the old Mopar stuff that fell apart a little each day but would run forever. So, when I go to the dealer to express my concerns about an engine knock and they just say, "drive it 'til it blows up", I get upset. I love driving the truck, it's fast, cute and I actually think it handles like a sports car. if you want a soft ride, buy a Lexus.

I have to admit when the Dodge Ram pickup 1st came out I really disliked it with the lowered fenders but dont anymore. I guess things have to grow on you. I have the same responses in parking lots etc, people asking about the Nitro mostly positive remarks. Our front brush/grill guard really makes it look aggressive & thats what I get the most comments about.

There seems to be no in-between with this vehicle. People either love it or hate it. This my first Dodge and I'm definitely on the love side, for now anyway. I put the qualifier in because I've been a Ford man for decades and had some pretty bad experiences with my last two Fords. So far, very good.

Since I have had my Nitro I would have to say the comments have been both positive and negative. Seems some hate the styling (and have told me that) and others really like it. Frankly, I didnt buy the truck because it was like everything else on the road but because it was different and has its own "character". By the way....how many of you out there are going to buy a new Challenger? I had a 71 Challenger convertible many years ago and the new is one sharp piece. Sorry for changing the subject.

I cant say I "love" my Nitro, but I really like it. I spend alot of hours in it per week, since it is my work vehicle and its very comfortable for me. My only real complaint is I get piss poor gas mileage. I'm only getting 12-14 miles per gallon and most of my driving is highway. I expected to get closer to 20. In any event, the only "issue" I've had was the roof rails and they were replaced. I cant really find anything else not to like about it. I bought a truck and I dont expect it to act like a sports car. I test drove it before buying, so I knew what to expect, and I'm happy with it.

As for the styling, people either love it or hate it. Its not for everyone.

I love my dodge nitro and i have had it over a year and i have had no promblems. Before i decided to buy a dodge nitro. I was intrested in the fj crusier, hummer h3, or a jeep unlimited. I drove test each one of them and none of them really made me feel good like the nitro did. I feel i have enough horsepower to pick up and it does well in gas for me. I have driven trucks all my life and the nitro has saved me money on gas plus a decent horsepower. I get lots of heads turning to see what i drive. many might hate it but i love it more than any other vechile i have driven.

As with most Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep products you love it or hate it.

We love it, they hate it, accept that you have superior taste :p

PS: 11.6 MPG city, 15 MPG freeway 3.7L, 4speed auto, 4x4, pretty sad, but i love the truck considering it was under 20k.

I am surprised to see such poor gas mileage with the 3.7 engine. My RT isnt a world beater when it comes to fuel consumption but I am getting 15 around town and 20 on the highway which is acceptable to me. Must be the K & N filters I guess. haha.

Love my Nitro. Great gas mileage compaired to our Dodge 4x4, only 16 on the highway with it. I have to agree with everyoone else, people either love it or hate it. I feel for those that don't match up to our standards. LOL!

people like to think in packs and are conditioned to believe anything domestic has zero positive qualities. There is a gross sheep / lemming thing going on these days.

My nitro is now 7 months old, 10k+ miles zero problems, averaging mixed driving of 20mpg, quiet, powerful.
