My Engine Rev...?

Hello Everyone, this is my first post to the forum so bare with me haha.

I am a new Nitro owner, i recently got 2nd hand a 2007 STX..SXT.. i forget the order haha, and I love it, im saving to do the Intake, exhaust and chip!

And in my research I have watched alot of videos etc and i realized something...

When I rev my engine is revs up and holds at 3000 RPM for about 3 or 4 seconds before it drops back down...

Why does it do this?!?! is something wrong?

Welcome to the forum.... Are you reving in nuetral\park?
If this is the case then it is normal for this 3.7.
I have this engine also and it holds momenterily, before dropping back down. Something to do with the fact that they are fly by wire and not spung like the old school style.

Yep, My 3.7L does the same(manual trany). I believe it has to do with shift points and wear on the drive train. Makes me nuts because there are times I don't want it to happen...

It's a built-in protection to keep from blowing up your motor. Yes, it also has to do with the shift points.
